Fail safe

Do trucks with 2.4GHz technology have a fail safe built in. I know the revo 3.3 does but what about other trucks?

mcshan 06-21-2011 11:37 AM

my flysky radio system has it but im not sure how to set it.

yea i put a venom one on my truck but am getting an xxl and was wondering if it had a fail safe

etivac13 06-21-2011 07:14 PM

failsafe is a feature of the radio... not the truck itself... these is also a failsafe that can be bought separately if the radio does not have a failsafe...what radio does the xxl comes with? ..i think most 2.4G radios have failsafe...

my truck has a fail safe that is connected to the throttle and if the radio is turned off or losses communication with the truck or the truck's battery pack goves below 4 volts it closes the throttle and brakes to the adjusted setting until power or communication is restored

The XXL's DX3S has a failsafe.

How and where do you get to it? I've looked in every setting on the remote or is it just a built it feature for the remote??

losifan94 06-22-2011 02:56 PM

yea because when I put one in my old truck it was set to apply full brakes and it just flipped. The setting has to be in the radio because there is no dial where the recievers are.

The DX3S has built in failsafe that is designed to automatically set steering servo to center and throttle/brake servo to full brake by default if you lose signal or batt voltage drops too low. Page 17 of the manual.

ok thanks. I still wish there was a way to allow it to apply semi brakes because I always turn my brakes up

Quite honestly, its simple and a very basic failsafe, but it works perfectly everytime, and thats the important part of a failsafe.

Ive had "programmable" ones where something was screwed up in the settings and it ended up not working correctly. Luckily no damage came of it.

So IMO when it comes to a failsafe, simpler is better.

you can adjust the brake... i think you do this when you bind....

Ill have to play with the truck when I get it. It should be in sometime next week. I can't wait

trxnut454 06-22-2011 05:04 PM

Hook your throttle return spring (on the carb slide) back to the tank mounting post and it will have enough power to pull the servo back if you lose truck power. Failsafes don't work when the truck loses power or your throttle servo croaks.

losifan94 06-22-2011 05:24 PM

Well then my fail safe must have power fail also because when the battery sensor is lit red it acts as if there is a radio failure because there isnt enough power in the truck to function.
