I have about 12 packs through my setup now and everything in the drivetrain is holding out. However my rear diff was starting to go out before I did the conversion and figured I would just throw it in and run it till it died as I had a brand new on standby and it's clicking in reverse pretty bad but still does fine when going forward for what it's worth.

Nice thread 10 Guage. I've noticed some familar faces on this site, and perused your thread :) I got an account here a little while back but havn't posted anything. Usually, I just read.

Thanks Shem!

An update to the diffs. I broke the front stock outdrives so I decided to pull both diffs and rebuild both of them. Since then I have put over 5 4-5 hour long days of non-stop running on them and they are holding up perfectly.

Last time I was out I burned up a few wheel bearings so tonight I'll be replacing all of the wheel bearings and installing new axles/cvd's all around as they all have a bit of a wallop to them.

I just ordered all that stuff from Jenny's and am in the process of doing it myself. Although I did not break a diff outdrive cup, they were getting knotched pretty bad from the dog bone side of the CV axle. My cv axles have never been replaced (6 yrs old). So they were getting wobbly too.

so how is the 1717 with 4 cell doing?
ps. really like your Hardcore Titian chassis, they are hard to come by now.

thx.

I haven't tried 4S. I've been running it on 6S from day one. I will tell you that the 1717 + 6S is definitely the way to go. This truck just eats up the crazy torque and has more than enough top-end for such a big and squirrely truck.

Doing this to mine as we speak. Chassis stripped and parts are in the mail. I'm going with a MMM and 1518 on 6S, thinking a 21t pinion might be best all around cause you can't handle these things over 45 mph anyway. Way to score the 1717 before they went the way of the Dodo bird. Castle just found some more the other day and they were all gone within hours.:flaming: Surprised you were able to retain the new era roll bar and get the brick to fit in there, coolness.

I ordered a few from Castle yesterday, as well as a few co-workers, my office alone collectively bought 10 of their 1717's. lol! I had a friend who was going to give me $2000 to buy as many as possible with but by the time he called me with CC info they were sold out, BUGGGGGER!

The one thing I wasn't willing to do with the conversion was lose my roll bar so I figured out a way to git-r-done. She spends more time on her top now than ever, hahaha.

I actually need to buy a bigger pinion as I've recently switched from running "monster" tires to 40 series low profile race tires which have killed my top end.

I think you and the peeps from LST forums alone wiped them out. 10 guage how do you like those 40 series tires? and why did you switch? Also, FYI, as far as keeping the new era roll bar, if you use the XXL platform which is slightly longer you should be able to use it with faily little issues. 10 guage was a special case because he wanted to keep his LST chassis b/c of his sweet chassis plates. From what I've read too the longer chassis also performs better as well.

10 Gauge 08-14-2011 10:48 AM

I switched to the 40 lowpros as I foun myself hitting the track much more often and bashing tires just don't cut it at the track. I found though that bashing is barely effected using race tires so I'm just running them all the time now.

And yeah I would have done an XXL chassis conversion a long time ago if it weren't for being a proud owner of a complete hardcore racing titanium chassis. I don't think anything could separate me from it. Hehe.
