E-Maxx + Battery Options
 

Hey fellas,
I'm going to be getting an E-Maxx probably this weekend (not sure if I want Brushless or Brushed) I'm most likely siding with brushed incase I want to run it after it rains or in the snow/ winter months.

Anyway, I don't know really anything about the battery choices. 3C? 4C? 3000mah? 5000mah? 11.6v? 7.4v?

I'm having a hard time getting this stuff down.. I've read tutorials and such but still don't get it.. If someone could put this in easy terms for me please...

Also what is the most battery the E-Maxx can handle? I would like 1/2 hour run times or longer if possible... Also performance increase...

Any links to batteries would be great. And the info would be great too thanks!

mah = run time.

3C-4C = charge rate. example, Take a 5000mah pack x 3C = 15 amps. 5000mah pack x 4C = 20 amps charge rate. Take the mah x it's "C" rating and thats what you can charge it at.

It's the mah x charge amps. A 1C 5000mah pack you can only charge at 5 amps total.

25-30-40-45-50-55-60C is the packs discharge rate.

11.6 volts is a 3's lipo not charged, fully charged it's 12.6 V.

7.4 = a 2's= 8.4 fully charged.

Go brushless..... dont waste time or money on brushed because you will end up spending a lot more to convert it when the brushed bores you (and that shouldn't be long). Also brushless motors are fine in winter just re-oil the bearings and dry the truck off when you are finished. You can very easily "waterproof" servos and esc's. Also always get the higher mah for longer run times.

Just curious cause a charge rate isn't mention, but it takes an hour on my charger.

I've got a brushed emaxx with the 16.8v EVX2... twin titans. I'm running Lipo Batteries - Blue Lipo 2s1p 5000mah 20c packs. I've gone about 20minutes before I break something, I am sure my run times are at least 30minutes long. Make sure you get ones that fit your tray and get LVA. I have a hard time figuring why someone would think you would get bored of brushed. Yes my top speed isn't over 35mph... but... that's hella fast already.

yes you can have fun with brushed motors since they are true all terrain vehicles, basically any weather and anywhere! But as far as speed and more run time brushless and lipo is the answer!!

my only advice is if you plan on running in the snow get some sand tires, proline paddles are awesome for snow!!!!

Ok, the info given here isn't wrong, but I think it can be taken the wrong way if you read it too quickly.

Mah = run time. Its like a gas tank, bigger the tank the further you can go.

"C" rating is a way of stating a Lipo battery's output, based on the Mah of the battery. Mah multiplied by C = Amps. The "C" rating is used to describe how many amps a battery is capable of delivering under the following condtions.

Continuous load
Burst load (generally less than 10 seconds)
Charging

For example You would normally see this on a label of a battery: 5000mah 25/40c. This means it is a 5000mah battery with a 20c continuous and 40c burst rating. It can deliver 100amps continuous and 200amps burst.

The charging C rate of a pack will always be listed separately from the other two numbers. Up until a year or 2ago almost all packs could only be charged at 1c (5000mah pack at 1c = 5amp charge). Now there are packs availible that can be charged at 5c or more. If you cannot find the charge rating on the pack, do not charge it at more than 1c or you could damage the battery.
