E MT Kit?
I've been looking into getting a monster truck but I can't really find anything that fits what I'm looking for. I was set on getting a summit, since it fits exactly what I want to use it for with the locking diffs for snow, but I hate RTR's, and I already have an MMM and a 1518 and 1515 motor, servos, and a radio. I already have crawlers so no real need for the 2-speed.
I really would like to build a kit, that is half of the fun of this hobby for me. Is my only option to do like a savage ss conversion or some kind of custom kit? Would that even be worth it? My budget is about $600. |
Don't rule out building a Summit from new parts. I did this ages ago with a Tmaxx back when the Maxx was king. I bought just what I wanted, and built it how I wanted it. You can save yourself money by getting the upgraded parts you want right from the start, instead of replacing them down the road. Just start with a nice screw kit, and go from there.

Thanks for the input guys. I'll probably end up getting a summit and then wait until spring and pick up some kind of new kit, as if I really need any more vehicles.
I guess I really wasn't overlooking anything and there actually aren't any kits. The savage conversion would be fun but it would probably take a lot of planning and hunting down parts. I live in Korea and will be visiting the US for Christmas so I was looking to pick something up and avoid the shipping and customs fees. A savage conversion or building from parts could get really expensive for me. Plus there aren't really that many really necessary upgrades for the summit from what I can tell. |
You could buy parts from Ebay
You could start buying parts from Ebay. I built a rusty last year. I had a chassie and bought parts from the RC chop shops on there and built it for a very good cost. Or buy, tear apart, rebuild!
