mmm 2200kv in summit problems
I installed a Mamba monster and a 2200kv motor in my summit. I connected two lipos(ZIPPY Flightmax 4000mAh 2S1P 25C Car Lipoly) Running in a series,
everything turns on but steering draws alot of juice and the wheels do not want to turn. I pull the throttle and it goes forward and reverse fine but cuts off when I turn the steering... I am not sure what is going on. has anyone experienced this?? thanks for the help in advance |
I haven't had this problem before, but maybe there's something wrong with your servo. If you have a spare servo, unplug your old one and try the spare. Maybe something is shorting out in your servo??
Just a suggestion :) I take it that when turned off you can move the wheels left and right, nothing is blocking the steering? |
when turned off I can move the wheels nothing blocking.will check out he servos tonight
|
Your batteries are a bit weak, my Summit pulls 120 Amps on a start with the brushed set up and Dewalt Motor.
I suspect under load the Speedy can't maintain enough power to the BEC circuit so the servos aren't getting the current they need. Either try better batteries or run a receiver pack. |
it was the over tightened pivot ball caps, fixed the steering problem but I did have a couple power cuts when test driving, would a BEC help out any??
thanks guys |
lol I have done that, tore apart the whole steering assembly before I realised it was a pivot ball cup too!
A BEC "may" help but if you're running 4s Lipo total, you shouldn't need it, if you're getting power cuts under load it means the batteries are struggling under full amp draw (ie getting below 3v/cell on take off) the MMM cut off will kick in based on the batteries resting voltage, not how low it dips under load. If you can't fund new packs right now, going down a pinion or two will reduce the amp load. |
think Im gonna get some 2s 30c 5000mah lipos
I am running a 15t pinion 68 spur will these batteries be a noticable difference? |
Should do, you'd be going from a 100 Amp constant rating to 150 Amps.

nevermind

So I found out today that Castle said they would not warranty any mamba monster esc's if you were not running at least 5000 mA does this sound crazy or what? I am running 2 3200mA 3S Lipo's and they were saying thats not enough. Why would they not Post that on there website. they said the sidewinder has to be the same way. What a joke!
Has any one else heard this? |
Whoever is telling you this is pulling your leg or something. There's never been anything like that on their site and it would def be posted there in big easy to find print. Castle recommends a min amp discharge level - 125 - 150amps (seen both) and that's from talking with their service guys, I've not seen that posted either. None of this can be covered by a one size fits all case there's too many diff RCs that you can run an MMM in. There's a bif diff in batt needed between a 7lb 1/10th vs a 14lb 1/8th scale.
Somebody's giving you a hard time about your lipos. What's their C rating? Capacity is only one part of the lipos amp capability. If yours are 45C, then they would have 3.2 x 45 = 144amps. This is all that I've seen posted about the Sidewinder - http://www.castlecreations.com/suppo...-advisory.html Just call Castle and ask them yourself. |
i was using a 7.4 volt max servo with the sidewinder with the same problems...whenever the servo was overa certain load everything would shut off and restart like the low voltage kicked in...pretty weak bec
|
Yeah, that's partly why its a cheaper esc - 5v and 2amp I think are what its rated for. If you need/want more, you need to add and separate BEC.

Sorry for the thread jack but I just think that's funny that castle says don't use the sidewinder in a sct yet they have a sidewinder sc system coming out
And a bec will definately save you some headache |
