ok try not to laugh..
first time with new engine so bare with me bought a 3.3 for a 2.5... it wouldnt go anywhere when i fired it up.. and idles a little on the low side had to adjust throttle on radio to keep it on.. ok... i took apart tranny since it would wind out and not move... checked the clutch... works great... its a 3shoe aluminum or whatever.. opened tranny.. gears are good.. freind told me to loosen the screws on the gears enough to where the resistance felt less... did that on i guess its the reverse gear... and did it to the 2nd gear.. made sure that black slidy thingy that changes gears was in good shape and working.. it is .. put it back together... i then noticed that the pos n neg on the ez start motor were put on backwards.. i then added up thatin fact my motor was working backwords..so i flipped the one way around .. hooked the ez motor how it should be.. and thus thinking now the gears will grab since its now rotating the correctway... ok! :batman: it now wants to rip out of the hole..the carb is in its most closed position..radio is set to 0..and i tried choking it with gas... and it just seems to wanna go faster... i turned the alen set screws on both gears in tranny many ... two turns out almost to where they showed a bit... i figured if anything its just gonna engage as soon as i hit the gas... but not keep it soo acc.. this is obviously a engine prob correct?? i "broke in" the engine in reverse (like a idiot) with two tanks keeping it at 200 degress with a heatgun.. my buddy told me traxxas engine run hot.. and anything below 150 would be taking life away from motor... brakes wont keep this sucker from takin off thats how acccelerated it is.. please help guys.. thanks the pic is my truck the day i noticed it wouldnt go anywhere so i took a pic at the park in some white sand haha |
ghgh
although i went up n down a bit on the hsn to see if it was too lean..
the setttings are from factory.. i didnt start turning things all crazy.. i went up n down on the hsn and up and down a bit on the idle.. kepp in mind.. im super green thanks |
Sounds to me like it may be sucking air somewhere!

filter is on and the lines are new..
dude its not rolling away.. its load as hell and the tires spin like crazyy |
First of all, 2 tanks is not enough for proper break in. You want to check your idle gap by pulling the air filter neck off the carb. You should have a gap of about the width of a credit card. You adjust this by the idle screw. The stock settings on that mill is 1-1/2 out on the LSN or flush with the horn and right around 4 out on the HSN. Do not crank the needles all the way down and then back them out, dont be a gorilla about it, you can bend the plastic needles and never get a tune. If you need to tighten them down and back them out to stock settings be carefull about it. Make sure your linkage is adjusted the right way and the carb slide is not getting bound up. If it's getting bound up, rotate the carb a bit.
Second, Never adjust your shift points on any trans untill you know the tune on your engine is on key. If you can, put the screws back to stock. |
loud... sorry super fustrated over here and im beating the keyboard typing:flaming:

ok update
thanks for your help dude the 4 turns stock hsn setting worked out.. called a buddy(he answered finally) and told me to go out on lsn ... did that car idles but turns off if it sits... closed hsn a bit ..now it wouldnt bog when i accelerate slowly... ran out of a bottle of gas and its getting late dont wanna piss of the neighbors.. thanks for the quick response and ur knowledge.. :D |
Run it as it is for now, work up to like full throttle and count to 3 or so and back off, repeat this for a tank then accelerate to full over 3 seconds and hold it a couple more, back off and do it again for a tank. After that you can probably start leaning out the HSN 1/8 as the engine opens up more. I would recommend you go another 3 tanks rich before you start really going for performance tune.

You should be able to get it to run perfecty with the LSN set at 1 and 1/2 out or flush with the throttle horn. Turn the LSN in 5 min on a clock untill your idle kicks up enough to keep it running as long as your idle gap is 1 credit card in width. You can always do a pinch test (this is just a guide) to see where your at on your LSN. You simply pinch the fuel line 2-3 inches from the carb nipple. If it revs up and dies out in 3 seconds your good to go on the LSN. If it dies before that, it's too lean. If it dies after 3 seconds and longer, it's too rich. |
