Sorry I thought he meant it's a toy in as it's meant for little kids to putt around in the back yard while their dad has something more serious going on with some other more serious rc truck. My bad.

There is hobby grade RC and there is toy grade RC and there is a difference.

Sure they might be considered toys in some circles, but for most of us it's more than that. It's a hobby.

By definition listed, if we play with it, it's a toy. That might be true, but not all toys are hobbies. I like playing video games sometimes, but that is not a hobby for me. What about people who play with 1:1 cars like top fuel dragsters, we play with those, but those are not a toy.

For me it's a release from the pressures of owning an IT company. If I play with toys, so be it. My toy cars cost more than some peoples 1:1 cars.

I like to play with guns (of all types; pistols, high powered rifles, plinkers, and shotguns) but those are definately NOT considered a toy. The manufacturer's say so .

But when it comes to RC, I would have to consider them just very fancy toys to us. To anyone else, I would have to say an educational machine. The only reason I say that is because there is a fine line between what is a toy and what is not when the "toy" in question weighs 15 lbs and is going by at +45 mph. There is a certain danger factor when that is considered, and that is the only reason I could consider it not a toy, just like the danger factors of a firearm. Especially when at any speed, especially at above 45 mph, the chance for a radio malfunction is always there no matter how far radio technology has advanced. Now, don't get me wrong, a firearm is far more dangerous than a little RC truck, but its only an analogy.

There are numerous defanitions of "toy" to support both arguments. To me they are part of a hobby, not toys. http://www.google.com/search?q=define:toy

Have had a pile of just about every car on earth, but never a Geo.

Isuzu Troopers and Mitsu Monteros and Jeeps and Ford Thunderbirds (bet that last one is a shock) mostly.
