High Temps?
 

Had a good bash last night. I measured the temps after the run and I'm wondering if these are normal...

Castle 2200kv (black version) w/cooling fan - 158°
Castle MM 1/8th scale ESC - 171°
Zippy Flightmax lipo 5000mah 3s - 124°

It was around 80° outside and I ran pretty hard for 31 minutes until lvc. Truck is an flm chassis 1/8th scale diff converted emaxx that weighs 12lbs. Gearing is 18/66.

Once it gets to 190º, it's time to start worrying.
Don't let your lipos go above 140º discharge.

I'd say your temps were a little high. I have a 13+lb Flux using that same motor and the HPI branded esc and when running 6S I don't see temps anywhere close to yours. My lipos get just warm enough to know they've been used and the esc fan doesn't run, meaning temp is below 150F. Motor is warmer than lipo, but not hot. And temps here are in the upper 90s. Your temps say you're overgeared.

What do you have your lvc set for? You'll get better life from your lipos if you run a higher lvc, like 3.5v/cell and don't run to lvc. Its not good for lipo life if you're using more than 80% of their capacity (4000mah in this case).

I'd gear it down a bit to lower those temps, you are getting borderline.
