Did you buy it used? I am guessing that the engine is a bit tired. What happens is that when it gets old and gets up to temp after warming up, the engine loses its compression and can not keep running.

When it dies after the 5 minutes, how easy is it to roll the engine over? There should be a bit of a pinch at the top of the stroke, but I am going to guess that you could easily roll it over with a finger or two using the flywheel.

If this is the case, you will need a new piston and sleeve. After you do that, you need to break it in again and it will be good as new.

If it is new, then I don't have any good ideas for you right now. Maybe a bad glow plug?

I sealed the engine on mine. I used a high temp silicone. sealed the back plate and where the carb meets the Block. I also sealed the piston sleeve, in between the sleeve and the block. This made all the difference in the world for me. My temps dropped dramatically and I was able to tune.

I found a lot of useful info on CEN's site, in the forums

Good Luck!
