Old T-Maxx Problems?? NEED HELP
Alright so i bought the older t-maxx with the trx .15 and when i got it, it had a shredded spur gear so i went and bought a new one and put it in. I made sure it was meshed proper and went to take her for a spin, the gear instantly shredded in all of 2 minutes......
Now im confused i looked her over and cant seem to find out the problem and i don't want to keep buying the gears so if anyone has some good info it would be much appreciated. i have meshed gears on my buggy before so im some what experienced.... thanks:cry::cry: |
Is the clutch in good shape?
|
Yup, Check the clutch bearings as well.
|
yeah i pulled the clutch bell off and it looked good and the bearings as well... idk im gonna take it to my local hobbie shop tomorow i just dont want to pay for someone to do the work when i can do it...

Usually tearing up spurs that quickly is due to something binding - thats why the clutch was asked about. It should spin very freely if everything is ok with brgs.
Did you check that motor mount isn't cracked - any movement, however little will destroy spurs. Even a bad case of chassis flex will destroy spurs. Anything that lets the spur and CB pull away from each other will destroy spur gears. Trans all tightened down and secure? The next suspect is inside the trans. There may be something in the trans thats beginning to bind or drag. |
it seems to spin freely but i dont know didnt pull it apart or anything but i will give it a look at.... thanks
|
The CB should spin and keep spinning for a while if its all ok. Clutch spring could be broken and dragging. may be worth looking for the peace of mind and to eliminate it as a possibility.
With spurs getting destroyed so quickly, should be something obvious when you find it. |
yeah the clutch bell spins very freely i had it off earlier and the clutch looks good so i dint know what else to do
|
it was actually the motor mount screws i was missing one and the motor was jumping... but thanks everyone.....
