T-maxx diffs

What is everybody putting in their diffs as far as oils or silicone lube and so on?

Phatkat 03-02-2004 08:41 PM

I have used Losi white grease with some success.:)

first question is are you sealing diffs and trying to use silicone like Steve Slayden or as you talking about for the ring and pinion portion?

inside diff cup mainly, but what would you suggest for total setup.

Have had real good luck with Synthetic Wheel bearing Grease. Fill as tight as possible with as little air as possible left in the cup. Found that a small ziplock bag with a couple table spoons of grease and a small hole nipped off the corner works best for me. just sqeeze it in kinda like a cake decorator does.
Hope this helps

rcracer37;

You'll find that the truck will handle better with some grease in the diffs. Since the diffs are not sealed, oil will just leak out into the housings.

I personally like Silicone Grease for unsealed diffs. It does not seap out like regular grease and lasts many months between rebuilds.

As a second choice, a good High Temp automotive grease (GL5 spec) should suffice.
