thinking of going big
 

so what do you guys think, I'm a on-road nitro racing person and I'm thinking of getting a monster truck for fun. I seen both the Traxxas T Maxx 3.3 and the HPI Savage XL out of these two which one is better RTR Truck.

The savage by strides. It is bigger, tougher, and more powerful. The only downfall to the savage is the handling.....

Also might want to consider the Revo 3.3 and Losi XXL

yes, if you plan on racing then look into the revo or losi lst2. if you plan to just bash then get a savage.

Unless you plan on swapping motors buy the Savage X not the XL. Savage is the best MT out hands down. The XL 5.9 sucks, mine didn't even last a gallon. The X is more nimble and the motors are more reliable and proven.

from what i've heard the k5.9 is crap i'd sell it and get an lrp .30 or a picco .28 and a 053 or 086 pipe repectively

LST2 or LST XXL hands down.

i would go with the savagexl. I recently bought 1 and I have a blast with it.

Definitely can't forget about the MGT. I have a T-Maxx, Savage XL, Savage Flux and the MGT. I have to say out of the four the MGT is my favorite. I feel it's the better all-around truck. I bash it and run it at a local track and it has turned out to be a very durable truck. In my opinion it also handles the best at the track. Also my brother-in-law has a Losi Aftershock and that is a beast of a truck.

Do yourself a favor and don't get the Tmaxx. Every truck mentioned here is better in virtually every way. I like Traxxas trucks but the 3.3 motor is so picky in regards to temps, humidity, etc.

I would recommend the LST2. My good friend has one and has put it through stuff I wouldn't do to my worst enemies truck and the damn thing has broke one time and it was only the servo saver. Unbelievably tough.

The Mach .26 engine on it also holds a tune really well, tons or power, and is incredibly forgiving when running too lean. The XXL may be better, haven't seen one.

If you do get one keep in mind that the threads for the wheel nuts rotate in one direction on the right side, and the opposite direction on the left. I took a torque wrench to the damn things before knowing that and couldn't figure out why they were so stuck! :flaming::lol:
