Once again, Savage XL Diff. problems

Keep shattering these "hardened bevel gears". I'm not paying $30.00 any more for the ring and bevel combo. Does the 13 tooth bevel for the savage 21 work for the XL that is for sale for $11.00. If not, can anyone get me a link to a place where I can just get the bevel for the XL? I've already checked Tower Hobbies, that's where I got the part #LXDLD3. Check that out, but sales told me (as I saw for myself) that the XL was not in that list. I've already went on that UK forum and shimmed exactly the way it instructed and it felt perfect, but only lasted about 1 1/2 gallons. I appreciate any help or leads.

You are upset that you have to rebuild your diffs after 1 1/2 gallons? :weird: Check your shims every once ina while, check your mesh, just do basic maintenance. That'll keep your diffs from blowing.

HPI has an upgrade coming out for the Flux diffs that they are calling bullet proof - they look like the R & P from the CEN diffs that were being used to make diffs stronger. I see some are doing pre-orders. More about them here -

Unless that 1 1/2 gal is only a weeks worth of running, thats not shabby especially if you're jumping it a lot.

How come u can break ur diffs? I never brok any diff and I had several over povered R/C trucks.

Are you using to much oil in them? or they are not closed properly? Something mush be wrong.

most of the time i found it is the little bearings that the savage has now if you go with the flux balk head and there diff set that will give you a stronger set up mainly becouse of the bearing size and if you change your diff case to a jammin crt 1 you can use a bigger bearing on the other side i have also changed my out drives as well to the one that the crt 1 uses and then you can replace the dog bones to the crt 1 universal and it seem to cut down the vibration and every thing stay together better .......... i have done all this and after 8 races no prob at all
