Redcat RC?
 

ANyone heard of these guys?

I was in a small hobby shop and Redcat is mostly what they stocked. I have never heard of them....which probably means something...ha!

There is a thread in the nitro off road forum dicussing Redcat, check it out. Go on you tube and search Redcat rcacing tons of vids of their products.

I'll take a look...but how is the quality?

some cars are better than others. I would avoid redcat because they have little to none part support and upgrades.

I have read that they are working to get a dealer network so thay have readily available parts and tech support. Their new 1/8 scale brushless buggy and short course truck looks great, but the above statement about parts and support is unfortunately true. I would contact Redcat myself and quiz them on what they can do for you, you may be surprised. The quality on the 1/8 scale looked pretty good from the vid that I have seen.

I heard redcat is actually a quality entry level RC company, also, if your tiny hobby shop mainly supplies redcat, getting parts wouldn't be a problem for you. Depending on the price and what you are looking for, it might be worth getting.

There stuff looked and felt pretty good! I'm not looking to pick anything up by them...I was just interested to know if anyone else has seen their stuff!

Which model were you checking out?

a couple of guys at my lhs run a mini 4wd nitro buggy and it rips. It looks like a good deal for $150.

A buddy of mine bought a couple of Tornado's and they were junk. I couldn't even buy a P/S for the VX-16 that is in the Shockwave. The shock towers bend easily, the air filter was complete junk, and the pull ropes break very easily. They may be fine, but from what little experience I've had fixing his, I would stay away

3 friends off mine have that here they buy that for there son it was cheap to think off it they have the turgy a buggy and the 1/5 scale redcat the 1/8 scale last only one day off race track bash and we dont bast it that hard.
The 1/5 is only one left but we need too fix all the dog bone beside its super slow

There crap for a reason, there built like crap. pretty much everything is plastic and even there plastic is bad. There shocks arent even held on with a screw.

Ever checked? the tires dont even have foams. And no one makes wheels for them there so tiny

please do not waste your money on these. they are 100% junk. i bought a volcano nitro truck and everything that could go wrong did. and you have to pay high dollar for the parts and order them straight from the manufacturer and pay shipping and wait over a week for it. but by the time you get that part you will have another problem or part to order. and my buddy bought there brushless buggy and it to was crap. frail plastic, very slow brushless system and it only last a little over a month he got tired of it quick to and it sits in a pile in the corner of his garage. and there is zero resale forredcat vehicles. should not even be considered hobby grade. please pick something else. cheaper is not always better my friend. buy quality products that you find here and enjoy the hobby a while;)

I have little experience with the Redcats except for my Redcat RS10 crawler. I wasn't sure if I wanted a crawler but bought this one and am hooked. The RS10 has been a great crawler (with the exception of the stock battery, but those are always junk in RTR's). I have since bought a different one but still like to run the redcat on occasion. I am unforntunately going to sell (lmk if any one is interested) it to offset the cost of the e-maxx I just bought.

I'm a Traxxas dealer running an online "shop" but before I got my real wholesale accounts I was (and still am) a Redcat dealer. I have bought, sold, and driven almost every car they have created and I won't sit here and lie to you. Some of their 1/10 scale vehicles have issues from the factory but it's generally an easy fix. The only 1/10 scale vehicle to come with foams from the factory is the Volcano monster truck. Their 1/8 brushless vehicles are pretty impressive though but could use some beefier suspension pieces. The brushless systems in them are easily as fast and powerful as a Novak HV. The 1/5 scale vehicles are very beefy but the 23cc motor is underpowered.

Basically if you can afford something more name brand I would probably go with it. Crawlers are an exception. They come with dual motors and 4 wheel steering that has 4 profiles adjusted from the radio. If you run a dual stick remote and control the motors independently it would be a force on the trail. Only problem is their bodies are funny shaped and all are too small.

There is decent aftermarket support for the 1/10 nitro vehicles in forms of aluminum upgrades and such. OEM support is actually very plentiful and parts are almost always in stock but most are online order only and must be shipped from Arizona. 1/10 wheel sizes are standard 12mm hex and 1/8 vehicles are 17mm hex so not sure what the other guy was talking about. Just put a set of Slash wheels on a Vortex EPX Pro (brushless SC Truck of theirs) and it not only looked better but fit easily.
