18/47 is 2.61 and 14/52 is 3.71 gear ratios, you're gearing down, would increase torque and decrease speed.

If you could do say 35mph with 18/47, with 14/52 you'd be around 25mph. To increase torque, decrease speed, increase spur and or decrease pinion - you're doing both with this change, reason it has such big impact.

a 20t CB would be as close as you can get to 18/47 (which is 2.61), 20/52 is 2.60. With a 20t CB, doubt you'd be able to tell any diff from 18/47. Just on teh diff in the ratios, with 20/52, you lose a tick of torque and pick up a tick in top end, very small changes though, again, I doubt you could tell the diff.

18/52 is 2.89 which would gear up slightly.

Gearing - its all about ratios.....

I ran 17 and 18 but 47 spur on my 4.6SS and that worked fine, but I really don't know if it will fit. Offhand, I don't see why it wouldn't.

Need someone with a 25 to help out.

with the 47 spur and 18 c/b yo are gearing for top end and it would be slow off the line, i ran this in a modified k4.6 and that engine would eat a hpi 25 and it was still geared to tall.

the smaller the spur and bigger the c/b s for top speed....

bigger spur and smaller c/b is for off the line speed....

If you want to work out the final gearing just 47 divided by the spur gear size 18 gives you the gearing you are running....
