Monster Truck Motors???
Another newbie question for you guys. Not trying to be annoying here just trying to learn everything all over again. So far everyone has been great with feedback and I really appreciate it...:D
So I plan on purchasing a new LST-XXl in two weeks. My question is what's the best upgrade performance motors out there to pop in when it comes time to replace the stock motor? I know that the 454 that comes with a xxl is plenty good enough, I'm just trying to see what my options are for later down the road. What have you guys had excellent reults with as far as power and ease of tunability? Thanks, Darren. |
Right now its hard to beat the 454 for its power and ease of tune. The lrp .28 was a good choice to. But I have ran the lrp and am going to go back to the mach for fuel mileage and you don't notice that much more power. I also race mine so that plays into my decision. The new RB .28 is supose to be pretty good also, but I have not gotte to try it yet.

I know they were SH engines. not sure of the 454, but it is almost a dup of the lrp spec2 motor. Good motor with the right pipe. Use the Losi HT pipe or a Dynamite 086 and you'll be good. And he's right, the Spec 4 has a bit more power, but its a real fuel hog. You can go down in restrictor size but then why not just stay with he 454. Also, the blue head that came in Eight RTR engines in good too. can get bargains on both if you watch a while.

Ugh bout time! Thanks Marcos!
As for a motor, you aren't going to really notice an improvement from the stock engine unless you go big with an LRP .30, that'd be your best bet, and then I wouldn't even worry about it until you learn to tune the one you have, being a newbie and all. Little sad you decided to go with the Losi, maybe a picture of my Savage will change your mind? :) LMK :D |

I would just use the motor you got till you fell comfertable wiht tuning. Choosing a motor really depends on what you want to use it for. If you end up just bashing then a nice LRP .30 will be a good choice. For racing you may even want to look at some of the .21 . But for now if its not broken leave it alone.
