E Revo Brushless Conversion
 

I did the brushless conversion on my E revo, used the Mamba Combo with the 2200Kv motor with an 18T pinion and the stock spur, 64?. The truck is quick, but not even close to what I expected. No wheels stands, tho it has pulled the rubber off the rims a few times, so I know it is faster than stock. All I see are the insane speeds everyone braggs about on these posts.

I am using new 7 cell NiMh, 4600mhr batteries until I can convince myself to invest in LiPo. But, they should be faster than the LiPo anyway, based on voltage, at least for the first part of the run.

I have not seen or felt any issues with a hot motor, ESC or gear train.

Any Ideas? I may have to break down and take it to the LHS and have someone under the age of 25 look at it :-)

your batteries are the issue. i've never seen any NIMH battery come remotely close to having the punch a lipo does even with the same voltage. i started out with nimhs too, and i had some of the best packs available next to sponsored drivers and there's no comparison at all. they just aren't in the same league.

the only other thing it could be is if you have the EPA on your radio turned down. they need to operate at 125% throttle for the spektrum series.

HobbyCity has some of the best most economical lipos made. their Zippy flightmaxx packs are as good as my thunderpower and enerland packs.

these Turnigy packs look like they are just re-badged flightmax packs with 10AWG wire. Alot of people are already saying they're just as good as the flightmax packs so you might wanna get a few while they last. I've seen stock levels drop 300-400 batteries in a day because of their prices.

My LHS has a local source for no label LiPo packs that they are all running and seem to love. I do not believe that they are even close to as cheap as the Turnigy 5000mAh 3S 25C Lipo Pack. Great deal, thanks loads.

I would stay away from the turnigy and zippy packs because they are poorly made (witch explains the price). Stick with SMC and Neu energy lipos. They are the best on the market and will last you a year or two if used properly.
