I have a savage x 4.6 I am trying to deside which engine to use im thinking about an os 30vg an axial .28 spec 1 or k 5.9 any thoughts.

if you ask 20 people this question you will get 20 diff answers. Out of the ones you have listed i've seem the axial in action and it screams for the price

which engine is best?
well i like a 2 stroke, nitro burning engine. preferably .28 or bigger. |
My friend has an Axial in his savage and it rips, and starts easily
|
LRP 2.8 for sure or a Picco 2.8 both are sweet engines
|
Well, make that 3 votes for the LRP z.28 spec 3. Great motor for the $$. retail is $175, but you can find em cheaper. I race and have like these engines as well or better than many of the high dollar engines I've owned. I'm on my second one, got prolly 10 gal+ of balls to the walls racing out of the first in a LST2. Still runs, just lost some pinch. Economical, easy to tune, holds a tune, last long, and STRONG!!! great combo of torque and top-end.

The LRP was not one of your original choices....but it is the best offered. The Picco makes more power. You sound fairly new though and a LRP is fewer headaches. My VG30 ran okay.... it just had no top end and the nickel alloy sleeve was kind of a let down. The 5'9 has more problems than a sailboat in a hurricane. The Axial ex is definitely a budget engine. I think you would be better served with a Mach 427...the LRPs baby and very potent brother....over the Axial 28 for the same money. Guess we will make it 5 for the LRP.

The sure fire has actually low power for its size. I would think they could have gotten over 3 hp it they turbo'd it, or ported it a little more aggressively. That will be very equivalent to the picco .26 with maybe a little more torque (no replacement for displacement!!) |
I vote for Axial 28RR($150+/-). I'm running it on my X.......love the power!

the Sure Fire....Racers Edge... and Axial 32 are all the same engine. All made by Kingstar and they definitely are not your engine. The guy must have been driving it in a semi trailer in motion to get 65. Those K 32s are definitely not high rpm. I have no personal experience with the 28RR but it is just another Kingstar.... I have little faith in their quality or performance claims. I am quite sure the LRP 28 will handle any of those engines. I just ordered a LRP 30. The jury is still out on that one. The Picco 28 is the power king of the sub 300 dollar engines....it just carries a little baggage for a new guy to deal with.
