Default os .30 vg in revo

does this sound right on the very first tank in order for it to even move i had to lean in almost a half turn from what the engine manual said which is 2 3/4 i am using 20% traxxas fuel and stock pipe im not a newbie and have broken in about six motors before but never had to make that much of adjustments to run first tank it just seems a bit much and on the first tank it got up to only 100 degrees like that im a little baffled so if anyone can help or if this sounds about right please let me know ps i dont want to switch fuel and or pipe

Just let it idle through the first two tanks, then do 2 on 1/2 throttle, then 2 with short bursts of full throttle, no adjusting should be necessary. To be safe re-set all of the settings to what the manual says, just in case.

i agree that much of adjustment was not needed but it was just pouring gas out of the exhaust while it was running after a 1 minute of idling it had a puddle the size of a nice size pancake and it was not from over priming

i have an OS .30 in my truggy and the thing is set PIG rich from the factory! i had to do quite a bit of leaning to it during break-in to get it to run properly and achive proper temp's....

i only have ~ 4 tank's on it so it's still not fully broken in, the thing has ALL kind's of torque but not much top end....

i was running between 220 - 230 IIRC

i remember coming across some info stating that the vg does not like temp's greater than 240 - 250....

as soon as we start to get some nicer weather i'll be outside burnin' nitro!

i will be finishing break in today where im at it will be around 50 today i heard the same thing about the top end i am running stock gearing right now (38t,15t)but waiting to change to see how it goes but i would assume that i will go to 16t or 17t clutchbell to get a little more topend and still have that take off i will post back and let you know how the motor is doing

it may take you a few try's to get the gearing right, i think 15/38 is to high for that motor but am not shure what would be best 'cuz i don't run it in my REVO. if i had to guess i'd say prolly an 18t c/b and 36t or 34t spur. i run 17/36 with my picco and it has no prob's with those gear's....

Nice work. Im hoping to put a 30 VG in my Sav XL when I toast the std mill. Seems like they really do go heaps harder than the box variety engines.
