runtime and speed question for stock e-maxx/e-revo

hey everyone...first time poster!
I currently have a Rustler VXL and 2 6000 mah maxamp 7.4 volt lipos....I'm considering getting a monster truck of some sort...the e-maxx is at the top of my list along with the e-revo (I like the fact that they're both water resistant..it would be nice to able to bash around in the snow or not have to worry about big puddles after a rain)

anyone have any experience running either of these stock setups with lipos? I know I'd have to install somethign like a novak smartstop..that's no big deal...I'm just curious what kind of top end and runtime I'd get with the batteries I have

thanks!

Top end won't be that diff if you stay with 2S lipo, you'll just keep that fresh of the charger speed for a lot longer using lipo. I have an older EMaxx and got it ready to run lipo, just need the batts. Will be using smart stop for 2S on the batt that runs the BEC, rx and servos since its being drained a little faster, that'll protect the other one automatically.

Run time is most of the reason I'm doing it too - I get ~15min on 7 cell NiMH pacs and have been told to expect 20-25% more time for same capacity. I'm buying bigger capacity at the same time (5000mah vs 4000mah) and expect to see 25-30min or better.

yeah, I actually emailed maxamps about it and the numbers they gave me made me smile...lol...I should do at least 30 in that with my lipos, primarily because of the added punch they offer over NiMH...and it's worthit just for the runtime alone....I have a rustler VXL that's my 'speed machine' (and I'm looking to go mamba max with that anyway because I'm a litle sick of the quirky VXL ESC issues) so I don't need to have tire melting speed on a monster truck anyway...

and that's the number they gave me for my two 6000 mah lipos..about 25 minutes to a half hour...that works for me =D

and you're spot on about the smart stop..put it on the BEC side and you're good to go! I'll be buying one of these puppies soon

30min plus runtime

Skip upgrading the rustler, get a Mamba setup or Novak for the Emaxx and be done with the 'toy.' :sneaky::sneaky:

About 25 mph and 30 minutes runtime .
