Default revo question

quick question, just picked up a used revo and i am having a problem starting it. its got roto start and i am usiing 14.4 volt drill to start it, the plug lits up good and it has fuel in to but i cant seem to get it started. how fast to i have to spin the motor for it to turn over? not sure if im doing something wrong never ran a revo only an 8-t the fuel system seems alot different, the 8-t has a clunker and the line goes in the bottom whats the deal with the line going in the top?

Im not sure what your talking about with the fuel lines, but the Revo will have the fuel line going from the top of the gas tank to the exhaust. The other goes to the carb. Make sure you prime the motor by holding your finger over the exhuast and cranking it till you sell gas going threw the fuel line up to the carb. Then it should start.
If your still having trouble and you've been trying for a while, pull the plug and turn it up side down and crank the motor over a few times. This will clear out any gas inside that may be causing it not to start due to flooding.
Also you may want to set the needles back to factory specs, you'll have to go to traxxas site to find them, i cant remember what they are.
Last thing, make sure all you batteries are charged !

Hope this helps.

I know that a power drill does not spin nearly fast enough to start a HPI style roto start (dogbone shape) system, but it is fast enough to start the Losi style of roto start (hex shape). This is my experience and I have tried several different drills with the same outcome. The Losi style is direct drive so the engine is turning over the same RPM as he drill, where as the HPI style has a reduction gear inside the endplate so the engine spins over much slower than the drill rpm. I was having the same problem with a Sirio engine that I purchased that had the HPI style backplate and none of my drills were even close to being fast enough to start it. I ended up having to buy a starter box.

....roto start is only $35..bump box $100..admitted the bump box is waaay better..but the "right" roto start is cheaper..and duratrax makes a twin motor one.
