Default savage ss .28 wasp...question

i just got my savage ss with an orion .28 wasp in her,it has a 3 speed transmission in it......now it fired right up,and i can rev it just fine but it does not move forward, when i hit the 3rd channel(aux) button on controller it engages reverse, and will cruse in reverse, but no forward....i thought it was a 3 speed, not a reversing transmission,i have the original 2 speed,i can live without reverse,i do on all my other trucks,it would be nice but......so why would it only engage reverse, and should i throw the original transmission back in it????

Some fuel may have gotten spilled on the head or there may be a slight leak from the head. Use some de-greaser (motor-spray etc) and hose down the head and let evaporate. Re-tighten the head bolts (cris-cross pattern) and make sure they're tight.

Could also be coming from the exhaust flange gasket - exhaust drool thats getting on the hot part of the head below the exhaust port. That would need to be taken apart and the gasket replaced and springs if they've lost their pull.
