Default Back after 3 years, where to begin

I used to be big time into this hobby, had thousands invested in a TC3, and an HPI savage, sold it all about three years ago, and kind of miss just bashing with the savage. I was looking at getting a new one...
I saw the SS4.6 kit which looks awesome, and the new XL which looks even better, but then again maybe its too big and heavy... Plus I wanted a kit that way I could put in good electronics and build it myself with different shock oil, diff oil, etc. Which do you guys think is better to go with?

And what upgrades are actually necessary? HPI has come a long way since the Savage 25, with tons of upgrades coming stock now, the only thing that seems necessary is the throttle linkage, and the electronics if you get the RTR version.

Help me out here guys I wanna get back into it

i have the savge 25 and i love it. i like it because most of the other savage parts (X, ss, 4.6 etc) fit my truck so i can just make mine better and faster. i am currently looking for a 4.6 engine for mine.

i say for a savage. a friend of mine as a savage x and it will walk all over mine, but we usually bash at a gravel pit (base of a mountain) and all you have is hills and mine will out climb his.
