lst2 engine
 

what engines are you guys running in the lst2 for racing?

i run the stock 427. It is plenty fast enough for racing and it is reliable.

i am running the stock 427 in my truggy and have to say that it is a great and often overlooked engine.easy to find parts for ,easy tuning,great low-end revs pretty good,dececnt mileage.responds pretty good to pipe changes. i have ran many other engines,from v-specs,hyper,sts,piccos,drakes,novarossi,go,etc.the 427 is great,and can hold its own with any of those.the drake 28 had the most bottom end of the bunch,same as the other picco based 28s(jammin,ofna).

i also ran the 427 for a season and half, then the rod broke. what pipe are you guys running with the 427?

I recently made a thread like this. What i got from my thread was that the 427 was a good solid motor but it was just ok. If you wanted to take the next step in performence go with the lrp. That motor has a Ton of power and its only another 25 bucks.

that is what i meant by responding well to pipe changes...the motor seems to show the pipe characteristics pretty well.the stock 8ight (-t)readu to run pipe had the best mileage ,but flattest(or maybe smooth?)power.jp-3 had better bottom,bling,pretty good mileage.the dynamite 086 smoothed out the bottom(softer),but did help the end a bit.it has been a while,but the jp-1 had really good bottom,the jp-2 had better top end than the jp-1,and better mileage if i remember correctly.
i know this kind of reads like an ad,but that is the cool part.the engine responds very predictably to pipe changes.for run time go for the rtr (8ight)pipe.

Which LRP, and pipe are you using and does the motor come with the roto start. Also, what was your run/race times per tank.

You can run the stock lst2 pipe with either lrp motor. It is a good all round pipe.
The pullstart lrp spec3 can take the losi spin start pretty easy.

I don't recall what run times were but with that big lst2 tank you have plenty of mileage.

427 when i raced 1 for my boss in '06. HT pipe. beautiful. 13min/tank on a big track w/stock tires even. 14.5min w/race tires (so darn close to that magic 15min. oh well, they made pitstops mandatory anyway...so why not come in get a lil fuel and a wipedown for the photo).

The Mach 427 is a great engine. I use the RD Logics dual stinger on it. It's a little too loud...but it really opens up the engine.

The Picco P3 is also a nice engine for the price. A 086 pipe really opens it up. I find that Picco is too much power for me when I plan to race on our track.

LRP Z.28R I'm still breakin mine in and tryin to keep the gooo off my aluminum. LOL

i sold my LRP and went back to the M427.

ported 427, LRP spec 3 ,or a RB 728. all depends on the track and more importantly....what mood I'm in. They all have mounted clutches and bells and motor mounts so its a 10 minute change out including gear alignment.

The STS .30 v2, has performed in mine, completely stock.
