Monster GT Problems

Well I have 2 of these trucks thanks to Criagslist.

Both are awesome and run great but I have seemed to ruin both of the trannies! First one blew second gear, and now tonight the other blew 1st!

I always made sure the trannies were oiled. What could have caused this? I know I am extremely hard on them jumping and sorta bashing them but to blow 2 trannies in 2 days is sorta crazy.

:tire:

If the slipper is locked up it can contribute to a gear failure....

A properly adjusted slipper really helps absorb the shock from hard landings...

Hope this helps....

Yep , your slipper is too tight , I went through this too till I adjusted the slipper . That or buy a Robinson Racing slipper/spur cause it seems to work alot better at taking the shock loads from on power landings .

That or change your driving style , no on power landings , try to be easier on the throttle ect .

Also check for any slop in the drivetrain, specialy tranny cups, this can add extra stress to the tranny.

MGT's tranny if durable as long as you drive within the limits of a rc truck

I will order the Robinson Clutch tomorrow..

I love these trucks but noone here in Arizona keeps any of the parts in stock. Tmaxx, Savage, LST, they seem to all have those replacement parts but nothing for the MGT. Any other aftermarket parts I should order for the MGT?
Allready got a Roll Cage for it... Added some wieght but i feel alittle better about those bad backflip attempts now with that on!

slipper is too tight. I raced MGT's and the only time I ever broke anything was when I tightened the slipper all the way down.

as far as upgrades:
the RRP is nice but not critical
the FT brake disc is a big help

I would get lunsford turnbuckles for it
Factory Team steering kit is a must

heck, I probably have most of this stuff as spares because I havent had the heart to sell my old racer.

You may wish to reconsider, their slipper pad works great but the Robinson spur is even larger than the stock gear..
This mean`s you will have a lot less top end speed and more bottom power ...

The thing is you don`t need more bottom with the MGT, you need more top speed.....

The factory spur and slipper will deliver your best performance....

Just wish to save you some money as I got one of those Robinson`s as well and took it right off when I realize how it affected my performance....

17T pinion is the largest pinion gear available & that already comes with the kit.....
Would`nt be so bad if there were larger pinion`s but there is`nt any available...

Let me know if you would like to get rid of some of the parts! i am having a problem here in AZ finding Monster Races...Everyone races buggy and truggy but no MT... I just got me the 7.7 Cen and i wanna blast some track jumps.. Blasted it over 40feet at 3/4 throttle last night!! Will post some picture later on!

You can use Ofna clutchbells and HPI clutchbells (though I had to shim the HPI), I belive I am running a 19t Ofna on mine now .
