Traxxas T-maxx Help! Electronics problem!
 

I have a traxxas t-maxx with a 3.3. The other day i was running it my fail safe kicked on and kicked my throttle back to it's neutral position, by the time i walked up too it it was fine.. So i was driving again maybe 5ft away and it did it again so i shut it off and took it home.. Upon investigation i found my on/off switch had bare wires, so i cut them and resodered them on. I swapped out my traxxas throttle servo b/c of nicks in the wires with a airtronics servo, checked my steering servo and my antenna wire and both were good.. Now i just tried another fail safe i have 2 futaba fsu 2's one used and one new. I still have the same problem. My tx is a Futaba 2pl fm and my rx is a R153f micro receiver fm, and also i tried my traxxas tx and traxxas rx, and there is no difference. Please help this is so aggravating... Any suggestions, You don't need to thoroughly explain your answer for i have been in r/c's for 5 years..

If I were you I would completely ditch the failsafe, and put on a throttle return spring, no chance of malfunctions. And besides that a failsafe only guards against signal loss, if your receiver battery dies at full throttle your servo will stay in the full throttle position, even with the failsafe. If Im not mistaken, I dont think they have there own power supply, but anyways I dont trust them! But my springs have saved me secveral times!

Kind of sounds like dead batteries to me, with the short distance, or might be the transmitter as well.

But the problem still occurs when i put in the traxxas tq rx and tx, so i know it's not my tx. As for batteries, i have 4 brand new alkalines and they are reading a 1.48, 1.48, 1.48, 1.49....

Deffinantly stop messing with alkalines! Upgrade to either 4 Orion or simular cells, or a hump pack! More power better run times, and cheaper in the long run! And Im still saying switch to a spring, at least for a while. This will tell you if you have a failsafe problem or a tx or rx problem. The only way to figure out what is truly wrong is by isolating the problem, I would start there!

New batteries in the transmitter as well? A spring or rubber band should always be used in case you loose power. If the Car looses power, the rubber band/spring will shut the carb, if the transmitter loses power, you might still stay opened, but with a fail safe it will close the carb.

Spring return is a must in my book! Also rechargeable RX battery, a must.

Ya I would say go with the throttle return spring and an SMC battery pack
