axial engine question
it's the axial .32. it's got about 8 tanks ran thru it.
but here is the question. i ran a tank shut it down let it cool off. then went to restart. well the one way bearing was slipping? i'm assuming. it would pop and then slip i couldn't get a full revolution out of it to get it started. so i took out bearing and cleaned and reinstalled. worked fine. ran another tank of gas and same thing again. it's done it 3 x's tonight and i just got fustrated and put it away. any ideas of y? thanks H |

It kind of depends on what you "cleaned" it with. Go with denatured alcohol. It is quite typical for a OWB to slip after time. It all really depends on how much fuel/oil seeps down the shaft that the bearings grab. Cleaning the OWB is standard maintenance though. If there is ANY scoring on the shaft or ANYthing out of ordinary in the look of the bearing you'd need to replace it, the shaft or both. Sooner or later it's going to stop working all together. Your job is to replace it before it scores the shaft. Good luck with your new engine bro.

thanks for all info.
i talked to a few people and lhs. they say it's pretty comon on new engine to have that prob. due to them beining so rich for break in purposes. thanks H |
I found that if you store the truck at an angle with the front higher than the rear, it lets the oil drain out of the one way bearing and will work the next time you want to start it. After the engine is broke in the one way bearing will work better because you will be leaner

the lhs told me it could be cuz the engine is so new and tight, that could of caused failer to the owb also. i have never had that prob b4 though .
i guess u learn sumthing new every day!! i'm gonna tear it apart in the morn and clean out and see what happens this time. it should be tuned right in now. so we'll see what happens i guess. i ordered a new owb just in case though.. |
