Default Tmaxx Tranny

well i've tried everything to get my tmaxx into gear. it's basically stock besides some aluminum but i'm running an os .12 cv., mip stinger pipe and an mip 4 in 1 clutch. well when you give the truck gas it just sits there. the spur gear moves but that's it. i took it up to one of our local hobby shops to have it fixed and before they call me i was wondering what you guys think it may be. like i said i'm completely stumped and any info you guys may have would be greatly appreciated. thanks, steve

Sounds like the reverse shift rod (4989) is inbetween forward and reverse. The servo may not be pushing it all the way in. Try actuating it manually.

it sounds like your 2spd gear adjustment screw has become disengaged or has loosed way up

Default no report yet

well when i dropped off the truck at the hobby shop they said it'll be atleast 2 weeks before they look at it. so when they give me the rundown on what the problem is or might be, then i'll let you guys know. from what they said at the hobby shop when the first looked at it, they said my tranny was loose which meant that you can spin the spur gear and the tranny would not lock up. they also stated that if this job gets to be time consuming or costly they'll let me know on what direction to go. i can either have them fix it or i can fix it when they find out what it is. i'll be in touch and thanks for the info. later, steve

You don't give us much information to go on so it's hard to say for sure. You don't say whether the truck has been running in the past or whether you just got the truck. You don't mention whether it was working before you changed radio radio systems or whether it never worked with either radio system or a different radio system. And so on. Well you get the idea.

But just a shot in the dark here. Assuming the shift linkage is fully engaged in either direction and that the drive shafts are still in one piece front and rear......

If you look at the topshaft where the spur gear is while turning the spur by hand and the gear turns but the shaft it's self does not turn then the slipper pegs are melted. You need to replace the spur and pegs.

If the spur gear moves the topshaft without slipping then it's most likely the idler gear inside the tranny is striped or the main metal gear on the topshaft has the pin sheared.

These are the 2 most common problems usually. Both involve simply removing the tranny and openning the case and looking at it. Nothing hard, usually just visually checking all the gears will usually reveal the problem.

Default heres the deal

when i first got the truck i had it stock all the way around. when my brother moved my stuff up here from south carolina(i lived there for a couple of months), i put in the os engine, the xr3 and so forth. yeah the truck worked but it ran away from me a couple of times so i changed everything. when i changed eveything over. i personally think that the time it did run away from me and got trapped under a ford tempo(thank god) it was idling nuts and that might of messed up the gear box. other than that i'm stumped and that's why it's in the shop. thanks for info though, later, steve

Default It's Fixed!!!

hey guys my local hobby shop just called me and they told me that it's all ready. the internal two speed clutches we're shot so they replaced them for me. the repair was only 52 bucks which included everything so i'm not comlaining. also i've had this truck for nearly 3 years and it's never really ran so this is like a new rc car to me. talk to you later, steve
