Angry T Maxx 2.5 Trans troubles...Please Help

Ok...I got a new 2.5 last week. I used to have a .15 but I sold it about a year ago. In the 1 year plus I had the .15 I never had a problem like this. When I was going through break in, it seemed to jerk a little like it was trying to move while idling. I turned the idle down a bit and it seemed to help. I am on tank number 7 and about 1/2 way through the tank it seemed to just quit. If you rev the engine it sounds like it is trying to go but doesn't. You can see the driveshafts clicking. But nothing happens. I can go from forward to reverse and see the driveshafts click in opposite directions... What do I need to do. Someone please help.
Thanks...

there is a gear inside of you tansmission that you need to adjust i had that same problem and i had to take my tanny apart 5 times before i had it figered out? but if you took your tanny apart there is a gear inside that has a screw and looks like a slide break that is close to your switching unit ? i dont know what its called very new to this stuff myself but it u are able to turn that screw clock wise little at a time it will ingage you might have to clean it and make shure that the catching post are in tacked inside the switching unit!!!!

thank!

RCSHARK: I believe you are talking about the adjustment for the shifting from 1st to 2nd gear.

That is based on you engine rpms once the truck is moving. The screw either narrows the shift band or lenghtens the shift point.

Kevinswart:
From what is being described - it might sound like one of the gears in the tranny is not lined up just right. might check to see if there are any grinding sounds when you rev up the engine or the reverse lever inside the tranny is not locking completely into place. with the truck not running - move the 3rd servo back & forth a couple of times by hand and make sure the lever is engaged to the forward position.

Restart the engine and see if the truck moves forward. If it doesn' then check the idle rpms. If the engine idles too high then the reverse level will not engage in the forward or reverse position.

Something else to check

Make sure you have not lost a pin under the hex adapter nut behind the wheels. if you loose one you could have front wheel drive or rear wheel drive only - if you have lost one on the front and one on the rear - the truckl will not move either. double sheck to make sure you have not throw a drive axle coming out of the tranny to the front and rear diffs.

Hope this helps.

BEFORE you go tearing the trans apart......Check to see if you didn't burn up the clutch on breakin, if it was idling too high it could have been partially engeging the clutch (but not enough to move) and heated it up

im sorry i was not talking about the 2 speed i was talking about the other gear in the tanny that fits where the forward only gear fits and the gear has a throw out locking paddle on it and if it dont throw right or it is dirty it will not hit the two arms and lock up the tranny to make it go? i had this problem also and had to adjust the screw to make mine go into gear also and the cluch could be messed up also but if not check the ingagement gear?

thanks!!!

It does sound like a problem with the forward/reverse shaft, while the car is off switch the car from forward to reverse, then back to forward and see if it will engage after that. The clicking you hear during breakin is that clutch engaging inside the transmission. I eliminated any kind of problem there with the forward only gear, also get to ditch that second servo which helps weight savings.
