Warhead EVO
I've heard all of the horror stories, and after looking at and driving one of the new EVOs, I was a bit nervous, but bought it anyway. It appears they have made some nice improvement over the origiona version.
When I got it home, I started the break in on the engine. The first tank never got to 1/4. For some reason, the engine speed just kept going up and up. By the time I could get to the guel shutoff and kill the engine it had maxed my temp gague. After about a minute and a half of sitting it had a reading of 412 degrees F.
I've broken in several nitro engines, and they're supposed to be pouring fluid from the exhaust during the first tank. This one had no blue smoke at all coming out of it. The high speed needle is set to factory stock (4.5 turns) and the low speed is set flush with the housing.
I pulled the plug and set the piston at BDC (it was already there anyway) and let it cool so I could have a look. I then reset the engine to 6.5 turns and tried again. I at least got some blue smoke this time, but the engine took off again and sounded like it was WFO. The throttle was closed the whole time... Who knows whats wrong here, but its going back to the hobby shop this morning, and I'm going to just try to return it. The last time I had an engine get that hot, it popped, so there is no way this one is going to get that hot and remain undamaged.
If duratrax really wants to get into the monster truck market, they're going to need to do better than this. If you hand a problem like that to someone who doesn't know what they're doing, it could easily cause a fire because the engine was smoking badly (from heat not fuel) by the time I could get it shut off.
Stay tuned for more.

I'm astonished.
Last night I got the chance to run my new EVO for the first time, and I was amazed. It took a while to get it warmed up, during which time it ran like a dog, but once it got up to temp it just kept going.
I didn't run it in the 2-10 minutes and 15 minute races, but a friend of mine did, and he did quite well. The revo 3.3 had it for speed, but it easily took out a 2.5R, and several savages.
The final event of the evening included some car crushing (old car bodies) and it was a blast. We also did a truck tug-of-war, and I was happy to take the controls for that. There was nothing that could beat it. The savages weren't even a challenge. The revo put up a bit of a fight, but lost as well.
These might not be the fastest things out there, but they have lots of torque, and I was even on the stock tyres. The only thing I did was have a steering arm pop off when I landed directly on a wheel from a jump. No other damage. So far, I'm very happy, and as soon as I can get some Traxxas fuel, I'll get to run it again. For some reason, I was told to run only traxxas fuel. My friend said it wouldn't run right on the o`donnell which is my normal fuel of choice.

THIS TRUCK IS FOR SALE!!!!!! Here's the link http://www.rctech.net/forum/showthread.php?t=142090
I got an original from Tower's scratch and dent and it had a junk motor in it. I put an Ofna hyper 26 in it and have only run 6 tanks of fuel through it and it wants to pull the front wheels everytime. I really like the truck. I did remove the header tank and instal the 165cc racing tank. Here's some pictures:

Does that carry more horsepower than the g27cx racing engine? I'm looking for something in the 3 to 4.5 range for horsepower

I've heard from my friend who had one that they had NO power at all. One day I was at the LHS a kid brought in his Warhead and he hit a wall at like half throttle and he bent the chassis and the whole front end. I will never buy anything Duratrax ever.
