i'm sure this question has been addressed before, but i am considering getting into offroad nitro.

between the three, hpi savage x, traxxas revo 3.3, and the traxxas t-maxx 3.3. what is the best value overall, consistent and reliable, durable, and upgrade(affordability and availiability)?

are there anymore questions and concerns regarding the aforementioned?

max price range of 650.

Id go for the Savage X, however have you looked into a Monster GT 4.6 or a MTA4 S-28. there brillant trucks and arnt far off savage durability. a doddle to work on aswell. just my 5 pence.

yes this question has been asked alot and thewse threads usually turn to flame wars.

the 3.3. trucks are faster then the Savage. they also handle better

the savage is more durable, easier to work on (the revo sucks to work on), has an easier to tune and more reliable engine, its cheaper then the other two, and is better at jumping.

The savage is the best basher. The revo is the best Racer (but youll go above 650 if youwant to race) and I wouldnt recommend a T-maxx in any scenario.

all three trucks have the best aftermarket backing (they are the market leaders). this means there is no shortage of upgrade's or replacment parts.

welcome to the forum, you will get many opinions based on what truck to get based on what someone owns. I have owned Savage, Revo, MGT, LST and LST2.

I raced all the trucks and each of them had just about every hopup to make it faster and more agile. I currently have the MGT still and an almost stock LST2. The LST2 is more durable than the LST1 and I won the Amain with it this week against hopped up revos.

You cant go wrong really for fun with a Savage, Revo, MGT or LST2. I just think for the money and you mentioned "value", the LST2 is the better purchase. It includes (2) metal gear steering servos that DO NOT need upgraded for better turning. It includes a Synthesized FM radio system and even comes with a receiver pack and charger. It also drives as close to a buggy IMO that a monster truck can drive. My MGT is more stable but my fastest lap last week first time out with the LST was 1/2 second faster than my MGT fast lap.

mach dont mean to be an @$$ but please keep it to the trucks he asked about. the LST2 is pushing his budget......the LST2 has alot of useless overkill for bashing. I dont think he is interested in racing.

a brand new LST2 costs 650. a Savage X costs 420.....now dont forget fuel ($30) needed tools ($20) and AA batteries ($10). The Savage leave's room for hop-ups, the LST2 doesnt.

I'd say that of the ones you listed, the main ones to even consider would be the revo and savage.

It really depends on what you want to do. If you find that you are going to do more racing, the revo probably would be a better choice. If you find however you are going to do more bashing, with alot of abuse, savage all the way.

I am so glad I sold my savage to avoid even the possibility of being associated with some of the idiots in here with their Savages stuck up their bottom...and since when does a savage out jump a Revo?

you jump a revo over 5 feet it bottoms out. The suspension out of the box is way too soft.

well shock oil is only 3 bucks and the revo is by far easyer to work i have owned 2 savages they are only good for bashing even then somthing goes wrong but i have been way happier with my revo im not saying the revo is the best truck by any means stock it has problems but parts are very easy to get and the chassis is more open to opions! NOT FOR DISCUION DO NOT QUOTE UNLESS IT IS THE THREAD STATER!

there are hundreds of thread that discuss which out of these trucks is the best.
ull get all kinds of different answers.
there all great trucks.
and with $650 u have enough to buy any one of them rtr and new
so just pick the one that look cool lol
other then that heres my opinion.
Savage - basher out of the box
lst- racer out of the box
revo - ok out of box and can be great at one or the other with hop ups.
3.3 maxx??? with $650 dont bother lol
thats my opinion.

u will have ur losi guys, and ur hpi guys and ur traxxas guys all telling u to get what they have. (im guilty) but im changing lol.
