HELP SELECTING GLOW PLUG
I have an MGT 4.60 and I want to know which plug to use. I prefer O.S. plugs, but could use McCoys also. I run 20% fuel and am just a serious basher. I have been told to use both the OS #8 (medium hot) and the OS A-5 (medium cold) by different people. Which would be best for my application and also which McCoys would a lot of you use? Thanks for any suggestions.

I use the OD99, for me it has been the best plug for my big blocks.

i got the engine u have in ur mgt...pretty good engine...i have used the OS8 in it,LRP R5,OS A3 and currently now using a duratrax gold race plug...runs very good and the LRP plugs are more expensive than the OS plugs..there abit better aswell and they start quicker but take awhile to get the engine upto running temps....

O.S. #8 is the 'cant go wrong' plug with a 4.6 and 20% nitro.
You can always use that plug to get good solid performance. You can then try different plugs and compare the results. You might see some difference, but for bashing, it probably isn't worth you trying. The difference might be some lap time shavings. |
i have that same setup in my mgt and i run trinity 20% with a mc59. that work well for me!

I am running 25% Nitro and running an A5 plug in my STS. I was running an OS8, but that was during break in and I really liked that one. I think I am going to switch back to the OS8 though.
What do yall think? I'm just a BYB, so I am not looking to race; well just against my son cause he talks so much smack about his Ravager (LMAO) :ha: :tire: I actaully raced him around abaseball field this past weekend. Well I must say he had me off the line, but I was catching him by 3rd, then he cut me off. He didn't have his body on, so I didn't want to kill his car. Well about 5 mins later we lined up for a rematch and the Savvy wasn't performing right... I blew my rear diff's LMAO... I haven't heard the end of it yet   :tire: |
I was told not to use O.S. plugs on the STS 28 because they are shorter and you need a longer plug. They suggested McCoy or SH plugs. They are about 2 threads longer than the O.S.'s.

According to the paper that came with the STS it says a normal plug. Not sure what that really means, but I would think long is not normal.

dosnt realy matter how long the plug is i think....
