My Old E-Maxx

This started life as a second-hand 3906 back in 1999. When I was finished breaking every piece I went all fastlane, ofna, rpm, with 6s. Is this old school by now? I still love the horizontal layout similar to my losi 1/8 scale stuff. It hasn't run in a while but I'm bringing it back to life.

Started life as a pile of parts back around 2000.

It was so nice when done.

THEN...

6S 5000mah broke stuff

The final form has been bullet proof for a long time and many many miles of bashing. I guess it's not really an E-Maxx anymore... the drivetrain is all 1/8 scale. It handles just like it should.

Looks great. I'd get a set of MIP X-CVDs for it, though. I hate notched outdrive cups.

I have a Tmaxx from the first year they were made. I’ve been looking at it, up on that shelf, telling myself I need to get it running again... It’s nothing a small engine mechanic can’t handle! (Me). Meh. I’ll get around to it at some point. I like the Silverado body on your Emaxx. My Tmaxx body is the original. It’s all original.

Picture 5 is one of the sharpest looking trucks I've seen in a long time. I miss the good old.days of 3.2's and Maxx Mulchers.

Nice one, looks like you have the beast dialled in!

Notice the golf course in the background, I was blasting 10-20' out of the sand traps onto grass.

I tried the early style MIPs and broke them. They do work fine on 4s but for 6s the best combo with my gearing and this setup that I've found is MIP cups with Losi 8T shafts on the front, and the original style Traxxas Revo shafts on the back. I've roasted 2 escs and 3 motors and the only occasional problem with the truck itself has been the ball joints on hard landings. It's a tank.. lol

You'd better hope you don't get caught by any of the pros there or anyone who will report you. It is hard work to keep a golf course nice, don't ruin the course. While I love RC, I'd tell you to get off the course if I saw you rippin' around as I'm about to shoot a birdie. There are plenty of other places to drive your RC cars. You could be charged with trespassing and destruction of property if you are caught on the course...because you are. Not trying to be mean, just helping you out.

When you say "early style MIPs", do you mean their C-CVDs that have slotted outdrive cups? Because X-CVDs have splined sliding axles with cardan joints at both ends of the driveshaft. They are much, much harder to break.

Yes, the regular cvd type.

No worries man! I respect the place, I have permission to play RC on the practice areas and fish all the ponds after hours. I live on the course part-time. I am blessed. It's all good.

I still love my emaxx as well. I run a FLM chassis with 1/8 diffs with 3.2 mashers

ChicagoMaxx 11-16-2019 10:15 PM

I run the LST diffs front/rear and center also the LST CVDs for the arms on my Emaxx 3908 witch was originally a 3906 converted to a 3908 with Team Associated front truggy shocks, Thunder Tiger Keiser 5mm offset 17mm hex, RC Monster front and rear shock towers, RPM ARM's front and RPM truetrack in the rear, made my own diff spacers to fit in RPM bulkheads, Traxxas center CVD's, dual bellcrank mod, double motor mount (keep bending on nose landings), MGT4.0 spur gear mod1, Hot Racing double up slipper with Traxxas nitro Emaxx clutch pad (full surface contact). It is now a tank a true bashing Emaxx that only brakes the center plastic ackerman will probably make my own. I will not lie, it took quite a bit of money to get it there, last thing to upgrade to is RC Monster LCG aluminum chassis and its done.... 6S here I come!
Good to see people are still bashing there Emaxx'es.
