Should I go Overkill or TP?!
Lucky me has a nice bump in my surplus RC fund so decide to build the ultimate basher/weekend racer. I’ve followed Seth (Overkill) and Thomas P over various forums and YouTube, and equally love both their kit bashers. So I’m battling between going Tekno ET48 with M2C parts or the XT8E with a few minor updates. No real budget on this so can go a little silly if needed, electronics will most likely be Futaba RX Futaba CM700 servo MMX ESC 1515 2200kv or go overkill with something like TPP 4060/4070 sensored around 1900-2300kv not sure if I’d go standard or CM, standard looks to be the best option as CM is aimed at road use and speed runners. So it’s really just the chassis and aftermarket goodies I’m looking at currently, with the ET48 I’d most likely get all the additional M2C options and the All racing diff housings. As for the XT8E it would just be the kit plus alu hubs and maybe updates diff internals, I know a lot say the XT8E is great out of the box but that might be its downfall for my intentions as there doesn’t appears to be many aftermarket parts out there, especially not to strengthen up the drive train or does it not need it? |
There's no way I would choose a bashing truggy if there wasn't at least aluminum chassis braces and other nice upgrades available for it. You may be able to get away with it for a little if you never crash, but eventually you'll start bending or breaking stuff. There's not a single truck on the market that needs nothing, that's fake news. The most important part of any truck starts with the chassis and there's NOTHING better on the market for extreme bashing than what M2C offers for Tekno and Arrma, which is wider on the rear, 4mm thick, and 7075-T6. Tekno has the thickest suspension arms and thickest 7075 shock towers compared to anyone by far. Like all race truggies, the CVD driveshafts are thinner but the thicker Arrma ones can be swapped in the Tekno very easily.
