Default Arrma Granite / Senton 4x4 BLX 3S

We all knew this was coming:

https://www.arrma-rc.com/4x4/blx/

Some interesting changes...EC5 connector on the ESC and some other "Horizion" alterations.

Website doesnt even work. I really am annoyed that ARRMA cant get their crap together. First they discontinue all the original BLS and BLX models and replace them with "MEGA" models that are just unsupported piles of garbage. Then they bring out these 4x4 MEGA series trucks with composite gears. Get everyone to buy them in the hope that they produce some metal gear sets for them. Then they drop these new models with 3s capability.

I was a huge fan of ARRMA but they dropped the ball big time. I really hope they listen to the community and bring out some parts for ALL of their models. Some of us with Vorteks, Raiders, 2wd Granite and Fury trucks still would like to use them....

They are live on Tower's site now: https://www.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...e_arrma_072618

$299.00

Not bad. I was hoping for better driveshafts, but for a 3s RTR 1/10th scale, these are priced right.

They completely lost me at composite gears. Last time I had composite gears, was the LAST TIME I'll ever have composite gears.

I’d guess they will have an upgrade available fairly quickly. With Horizon now their overseers, I’d bet price point is a priority.

The diff ring gear and case is still composite. On 3s those diff gears wont last a week. The internal gears are still metal so there is at least some saving grace.

I've been running my MEGA Granite 4x4 on 1/8 power - a BLX185 on 4s. Stock slider driveshafts are holding. Plastic diff - I have burned one diff pinion. Plus the 'standard' mega to brushless upgrades of HD diff input, and 32p spur.

Looking thru the parts list for the BLX3s version, EVERY PART I have broke / upgraded / modded ( and a few I have not broke) has been upgraded on the BLX3s.

The BLX3s truck get a re-designed diff to handle the extra power (they say). There are a LOT of people that have modded the MEGA trucks for brushless 2s/3s/4s power, and very very few have stripped teeth off the diff gears. Arrma made it better anyways.

Also, there is still the BLX4s version floating around out there - that one will have milled steel (not sintered) ring and pinions for the diffs.

That is amazing. I was running 1/8 scale electronics in a fully upgraded stampede and was still breaking parts all the time. Finally came down to a 3660 motor and now it stays together. Hard to imagine plastic keeping up that that kind of power.

Have you seen these diffs in person, though? They are YUGE! I'll post a link below, to a video I did (the HD diff input mod) - at 6:05 I compare them side by side to a ring and pinion from my 1/8 Typhon. -

Yeah, those are a lot larger than the pics make it look. I also thought the diffs on my MT410 were a little small, but they have held up fine so far.

This truck is RIDICULOUS! Love it.

Little bit of bashing at the local BMX park.

Doin Work likes this.

I just bought a Granite for my son and have a question. When I shut the transmitter off, the truck takes off. I know...I know you're not supposed to do this, but I've never had an issue with any old machine (Traxxas and Hpi vehicles). It's a bad habit and the easiest way to correct it is to not do this. But is there a way to fix this issue?
