Online registration: http://events.rcsignup.com/events/di...nt.cfm?ID=2658 Official flyer: http://www.iowarctracks.com/uploads/...2012-Final.pdf Facebook event page: http://www.facebook.com/events/377235539001760 UPDATE ON 8/30/12 Our 43rd confirmed sponsor for the 2012 Shootout is Genesis R/C Products http://genesisrcraceway.com UPDATE ON 8/7/12 ----> After much discussion with local racers we have decided to offer a Stock 2WD Stadium Truck class this year at the Shootout. We will have trophies for the top 10 plus TQ, and like every other class in the program there must be a minimum of 7 entries on race day in order for us to run this class. So please sign up today! The biggest off-road race in Iowa is just over 3 months away and I'm happy to announce that JConcepts is our title sponsor for the 4th year in a row! Along with JConcepts we have 42 other great sponsors which is up 9 from the previous year. So this year's Shootout will be bigger than ever! Last year was the 1st time we have gone to an all electric event, and even with the threat of rain we still smashed previous year's attendance numbers as we saw a record 225 entries! Just for comparisons sake, the 2011 Futaba Electric Challenge in IL had 104 entries, Round 2 of the Short Course Showdown at Trackside in WI had 165 entries, and the Short Course Nationals in CT had 220 entries. So the Shootout’s race numbers are pretty good considering all of those events got more publicity than this one. And this race is becoming a regional event as it fielded drivers from Iowa, Nebraska, Missouri, South Dakota, Illinois, and Ohio. This year will also feature more class sponsors. As they did last year, X Factory will give away a free X - 6 Squared conversion kit to the highest finishing driver in the Stock 2WD Buggy class who is not already sponsored. And our newest class sponsor is Tekno RC. They will award a sponsorship to the highest finishing driver in the 1/8 Electric Buggy class who is not already sponsored. There is a free pit towel guaranteed to each racer with a pre-paid entry submitted by August 24th. (Limit one towel per driver). Flyers will be available at Hobby Haven around 5pm tonight. So spread the word and I hope to see you at the Shootout! Anyone from MN going to this race?

What's the low down on those looking to come in/stay on or near the site in a trailer?
|
Hobby Haven is in a strip mall and they share the parking lot with other businesses. A few years ago at the Shootout I saw 1 "pop up trailer" but otherwise I don't think there is enough room for you to camp. But you can call the store and see what they say @ (515)276-8785.
Otherwise Saylorville Lake has some campgrounds that are open to the public and you can make some reservations online: http://www2.mvr.usace.army.mil/Saylorville/Camping.cfm I checked out the sites and it looks like the closet site is the Bob Shetler Campground which sits below the dam. Here is link to a Google map from Haven to the campground area: http://goo.gl/maps/rwTWl As you can see you are only 10 miles away from Haven. Finally, there is a Cutty's campground but they aren't open to the public. But if you are a member, affiliated with one of their partners, or are staying with a member then you can camp there. Here is a link to their contact info page: http://www.cuttys.com/contactus.html Hope this helps! |
Gonna be awesome!!!
