Twin Cities Rc Club Winter Carpet Season
#1

Ok I sort of started the ball on the RcBarn forum.
The name can be amended by the members. At first lets say Twin Cities Rc Club. Hence TCRCC.
Ok in order to try and keep a good RC program going now and into the future I believe we need to do a few things.
1. Form a club exclusive to any commercial entity, excuse spelling where it applies. That does a few things to ensure future success. It does not depend on a specific entity/business to keep the ball rolling. Also it defers the work load so that the inevitable burn out factor does not come into play.
2. Get local hobby retail entities financialy involved, as well as other vendors, they do after all benifet from our involvement/club. If they defer remind the membership of the fact.
3. Hold at least 2-3 Fall/Winter/Spring Season keystone races that efectively fund the season. ie: Octoberfast and other sanctioned or non sanctioned carpet races. I know there is a strong contingent of oval racers in our area. If we can provide a venue for them as well, it could be huge. Also if we decide to expand into the Summer dirt season, then naturaly we host Summer races as well. First things first !!
4. Set up the club as a non-profit entity and maximize the benifit from that classification. Set a goal for at least 30 + beginning members and go from there. Find a place to host our Winter season carpet races. I believe every other week is more than enough, but we could add based on the participation of the Membership.
5. I think it is paramount to co-operate with the Duluth Rc club for the schedule. So we would want to set up the schedule accordingly.
So post away I'm sure I've missed a few things.

Also a footnote with a group effort like this, we could hold Summer nitro/Electric on-road/off-road and oval races as well.

Joe Zaier Jr has offered his services to help to find a location for our first season. Any and all help on this effort would be appreciated !

I guess I'll set the bar for local hobby shops. To gain entry/be advertized at our races, and have recognition as a contributing shop lets say a minimum contribution of $100.00 annualy per location. The RcBarn is in !

I want to first say this. I want to see this work. So we need club officers apointed and not voted in. The reason for this we need true commitments and not a popularity contests. I for one can commit time and my membership fee until mid january until my kid comes. Then I am out for a month. And then after that I will be spotty.
First thing comes first. We need a place and new carpet.

While I applaud you intention I believe a popular vote is still the best way to handle things. Also if we do set this up as a non-profit org it is probablly necessary. If it works for our Country why not for a Rc Club. On that point we do need to get things going as soon as possible, to make sure we do have a Winter season here.
P.S.
Any person who chooses to defer involvement in the management of the club, has the right to do so. While I will help where i can I would prefer not to be an officer. There are plenty of comitted and knowledgable individuals to run this program.

Count me in.

Here is a question. I know the 100 dollar fee is needed the first year. What will it drop to after that? I think the 100 should cover the first 2 years for original members and then 40 a year after that.
I think entry fees shoul be 10 for a member and 13 for a non member.

I would try to keep the race fee in a more rounded denomination ($10, $15) so that you don't need a ton of "change" on hand that you'd have to worry about being stolen. We have to remember that we'll probably have some spectators there that will increase the risk. Just the accountant coming out of me, I work for a non-profit senior living management company and we have the cash registers ripped off all the time for some reason. But in Iowa we used to use a school gym that worked perfectly. I'd try to help out more but like Joe, we're expecting our first child in December so my time is limited now trying to get everything ready.

Deal me in!! I like the idea of a club concept. Some of you already know the prinipal members of the lsrccc so opening a dialogue with them not only to coordinate dates but for organizational info/tips to get things going smoothly. This last season we really got to enjoy carpet racing and I learned a ton so I'll help to keep it alive!!!!
