Beginning on road racing in the F1 class..? Poochy, I need some of what you are smoking - really...

I am assuming that we'll see you at the ROAR Region 2 race in 2wd mod buggy (the F1 of off road) at Mimi's tomorrow?

Hello everyone!!! Hope everyone did well over the Winter months. I posted up the schedule for 2017. The plan is to run the same classes that we have run in the past. I am open to new classes as long as the desire is strong enough to run it.

I have been talking to a couple people on Facebook about the shortage of the HPI VTA tires. The idea has been tossed around about switching the tires for VTA to the USGT Ride Tires until the shortage has been resolved. I would like to hear everyones ideas on the tire issue.

Default 2017

Chris,

- Thanks for posting the schedule/calendar.

- I'd second using the RIDE- USGT tires until the HPI/VTA wheel tire issue gets sorted....maybe allow them for the first points series and then evaluate.

-If we switch, most will probably want to up their gearing a little since the RIDE tires are a little smaller in diameter than the HPI VTA tires.

- I've got a set of the RIDEs that I'll mount up for the "test and tune" sessions.

Chris, thanks for the 2017 sched. So my son and I will be newbies to some of your races and we're just looking to have some fun.

As I posted above, probably thinking of just having him run in the truck class with a mostly stock Rustler and a mod motor with a 2S lipo. Sound like the right thing to do?

I may also put something on the track in the Truck class too, we'll see.

Thanks! I am still pending acceptance on FB. Thanks.

The truck class is a great place to start. There are several youngsters that run in that class as well as older guys. Only limit on the truck class is 2s lipo and rubber tires. What is your name so I can check the Facebook group?

Hey Rod how have you been?
I think the ride tires are going to be our best bet. Like you said we can use them for the first points series and then see if the hpi tires are available. I will be willing to carry a couple sets of the ride tires on the trailer for people to purchase so they don't have to run all over trying to find them.

Default Tire info

FYI,

All info is for a new set of 4 wheels, inserts and tires

WEIGHT: RIDE/USGT = 112gr HPI /VTA= 144gr

SIZE: (diameter /width) : RIDE= ( 62mm/24mm) VTA =(64mm/26mm or 31mm)

COST: RIDE/USGT =$25 VTA =$46- $55

from: RIDE = Gravityrc VTA= towerhobbies

Note: Ride/ USGT tires come pre mounted and glues on white or black spoke
wheels
HPI/VTA tires must be mounted and glued by owner

So what kind of setup is winning that class? (I know it's driver to a great extent, but if you are running a 25T brushed motor in a Clodbuster...)

How long are the races, 6 minutes? Mains the same length?

Which transponders work with your timing gear?
