RACE RULES
1. All batteries MUST be charged inside a Lipo Safe Sack. All batteries must be removed from the vehicle and charged inside the Lipo Safe Sack. Lipo Safe Sacks are available at the hobby shop. Over charging or discharging in a manner which has the potential to cause fire and/or unsafe condition will not be tolerated. If caught you will be asked to leave the premises. All Lipo batteries must be Hard Case.

2. The Max Charge/Discharge of any lipo battery is 25A. Anyone caught charging/discharging at more than 25A will be asked to leave.

3. No heating devices may be used for lipo batteries. All batteries must come over to the Tech Table at a temperature of no more than 110F. If your battery comes over “hot” then you will not be able to run your race.

4. Every racer must marshal after their race. There will be a designated area to drop your radio and vehicle and head right out to marshal. The penalty for not being on the track to marshal will be docking a lap from your best qualifier of the day. If you are unable to marshal it is your responsibility to have someone marshal for you and alert the Race Announcer before you get docked.

5. Use of reverse is illegal in all classes. The penalty for any driver using reverse will be docking a lap from your best qualifier of the day.

6. Turn marshals may not repair vehicles. If a vehicle breaks during a race, they must pull over immediately and be placed off the track. They may have someone come over to collect the vehicle and attempt the repair it.

7. It is the driver’s responsibility to bring their vehicle to the Tech table at the beginning of the race prior to their race. Failure to do so will result in the round disqualification.

8. Any racer may call out another racer’s vehicle for Tech Inspection. If the vehicle is found to be legal the $50 will be forfeited and given to the legal racer.

9. All vehicles must have a chassis protector that covers the entire surface of the underside of the chassis and no screws are protruding.

10. All winged vehicles must use Lexan wings. No hard-plastic wings are permitted as they will tear up the carpet.

11. It is the driver’s responsibility to ensure their vehicle has no sharp edges on the body or protruding from the vehicle. We ask that you round any edges of wings or fins.

12. Shock tower protectors are required for any vehicle with exposed shock towers and shock mounts. Also be sure not to have long exposed upper shock mount screws. File them down to the edge of the nut if necessary.

13. It is the racer’s responsibility to ensure they are prepared and ready before their race. Don’t call a racer’s minute because you hadn’t prepared.

14. It is ok to tell a marshal where your vehicle is at if you wreck but DO NOT yell at the marshal.

15. Any racer acting aggressively or using inappropriate behavior will be asked to leave.

16. For the safety of our marshals, any racer driving dangerously or erratic will be issued a stop and go. If the racer continues to drive this why they will be asked to leave.

17. If you have any questions about the race program, facility, etc please feel free to ask the Race Director, Race Announcer, or any of the Scale Speed staff. We’re happy to help.

Race Classes

Sportsman

The Sportaman class is for entry-level drivers that are new to RC racing. The rules for this division are:
  • Tires: Any tires are allowed.
  • Bodies: Any body style is allowed.
  • Minimum Weight: None.
  • Chassis: Any 2wd 1/10th 2wd electric off-road competition vehicle or 1/10th 2wd RTR vehicle with RTR electronics. We strongly discourage the use of 4wd vehicles in this division.

For example: John is using a 2wd 13.5t Short Course Truck in the Sportsman class. If the Top Qualifier in 2wd mod sct is 10 laps and John goes 8 laps he would be moved out of sportsman and into 2wd mod Short Course Truck.

All racers must bring their vehicles to the Tech table starting the race before their race.
We will be running IFMAR Rocket Round qualifying.
Track is closed between rounds. The next round will begin as soon as the next round is set up and heat sheets are posted.
We will run a single round of Mains.
Lower mains will be 6 minutes with top 2 bump ups.
A-mains will be 8 minutes.
Larger race formats may run differently.
Registration Process
After you bring in your race gear get your transponder numbers for each vehicle then make your way up to the hobby shop to get a Racer Registration Slip.
Check off the classes that you are going to race and enter the transponder for each vehicle. A transponder number is required.
If you’re unsure of which classes you belong in feel free to ask one of the Scale Speed staff and they’ll gladly assist you.
Now that you’ve filled out the Racer Registration Slip take it to the register and pay for your registration fees. The Scale Speed staff member will mark the registration slip as paid.
Bring your completed and paid registration slip up to the Announcers table and we’ll get you entered into the system.

Tech Process
Racers must bring up their vehicle to the Tech table beginning the race before their race.
All classes will go through tech and failure to do so will result in having their race disqualified.
