Cool 2018 Dog Days of Summer Race Series

Welcome to the 2018 Dog Days of Summer Race Series.
This race series has always been by racers, for racers with the emphasis on having fun.

Registration:
Everyone will get one (1) Series t-shirt with your first Dog Days race registration. We will have a master list of everyone who has received a t-shirt with their entry. Doesn't have to be at the first race. T-shirts sizes are limited and are on first come, first serve basis so register early.
$30 first class, $25 each additional - $10 Sportsman

2018 Dog Days Schedule:
Sunday March 18th @ Bumps & Jumps
Saturday April 21st @ The Track
Saturday May 26th @ Adrenaline
Saturday June 30th @ Pit Stop Hobbies
Saturday July 28th @ TAP RC Raceway

Awards:
Race Awards will be given out for the top 5 A-main finishers in each class at each race.
The overall series award will be given to the top 5 finishers in each class.
There will be one drop in the series.

Top Dog Awards will be given out to the top 3 racers with the most combined podium finishes in the series.
We will maintain a list throughout the series similar to how Olympic medal counts is done.

Furthest Traveled will be given out at each race to the racer who has driven the furthest from home.

BullDog Awards will be given at the end of the season to racers that make it to all 5 races in the series.

Race Classes:
2wd Stock Short Course Truck
2wd Mod Short Course Truck
2wd Mod Stadium Truck
2wd Stock Buggy
2wd Mod Buggy
4wd Short Course Truck
4wd Stock Buggy
4wd Mod Buggy
* Sportsman

* Non-award class $10 entry

Race Program:
IFMAR style qualifying
2 rounds of 5 min qualifiers
Single Mains
6 min Lower Mains
10 min A-mains
Marshalling
There will only be 45 seconds between heats.
Drop your vehicles and head right out to marshal.
Anyone not at their bucket before the tone starts will be docked a lap from their best qualifier of the day.

We will enforce a limit of 1 practice lap before a race to keep the program moving at a decent pace.

10 minute A-mains for ALL classes. 6 minute lower mains.

* A-mains may be cut back to 7 minutes if we're running behind. This is the race directors call.
If you want to keep your 10 minute A-mains then make sure people are out to Marshal as quickly as possible to keep the program moving.

Tech Inspection
Stock classes
2wd 17.5t sct, 2wd 17.5t buggy, 4wd 13.5t buggy
Checking weight, battery voltage, roar approved motor/esc
Everything will be out on the tech table to check throughout the day
Double check before coming up to be officially tech'd
Get your vehicles tech'd the heat before your race.
Bring them up with the the body, batteries strapped in, radio on, ready to be plugged in.
Your vehicles stay in staging until racing starts.
Failure to go through tech will result in your qualifier being thrown out.

We will have Track Officials this year to watch the races to ensure it's fair and encourage clean racing.
Track Officials will watch the race from the drivers stand to call out wrecks, leaders in traffic, rough driving, etc They will issue a stop and Go if they see any rough driving. If you don't stop, they can 2-way the announcer to dock you a lap
It's in your best interest to listen to them because they can save you from hitting a wrecked vehicle or being docked a lap.

Door Prizes:
Each entry will give you 3 raffle tickets.
Additional raffle tickets can be purchased up until the race start time. The proceeds from raffle tickets go towards the shop gift certificate for the shop that the race is taking place at. Only original entry raffle tickets will be drawn for this prize.
50/50 raffle tickets can be purchased up until the start of the Mains. One ticket will be pulled from the 50/50 pool and that ticket holder will win 50% of the cash received from the 50/50 raffle sales. The other half of the proceeds will go towards shop gift certificate for the shop that the race is taking place at.

Smaller door prizes awarded throughout the day. These will be a combination of the race entry and additional purchased raffle tickets. Winners will play a chance game (ducks, cups, etc) to determine which prize box to choose from. Each winning raffle will be set aside and later added back in for the larger door prizes.

Shop Gift Certificate will only pull from the original entry raffle tickets for this prize.

Larger door prizes awarded at the end of the evening by raffle draw. The original entry raffle tickets will be added to the pool along with previous pulled raffle tickets.

Dog Days Staff:
Matt Bridges from Punched RC will be running the Tech program for stock classes at all 5 of the races to ensure that the Tech program is consistent throughout the series.
Michael Staples will be the race announcer and run the program at each event.
Ray Walker and Jamie Groff will be in charge of the Track Officials at each of the races in the series.
Shaun Duffy will continue to be the series organizer.

Dog Days Tracks:
Bumps & Jumps - 643 Old York Rd, Etters, PA 17319
This is an indoor clay track with weathered metal jumps. The facility has plenty of pit spaces so you don't need to bring a table with you. The tire of choice is a clay compound bar style tire (Pro-Line Electron/Microns/Positron)

Adrenaline RC - 246 Sulky Dr, Winchester, VA 22602
This is an indoor clay/soil track. The facility provides up to 50 tables and chairs although you should bring your own just in case they're all taken. The tire of choice is a super soft mini pin style tire (Pro-line Holeshot)

The Track - 16806-08 Oakmont Ave, Gaithersburg, Maryland 20877
This is an indoor hard packed dirt track with a heavy blue groove. The facility provided a few tables and chairs but I would recommend you bring your own. The tire of choice is a super soft slick (Pro-line Prime) or bar style tire (Pro-Line Electron)

Pit Stop Hobbies - 262 W Main St, Mount Joy, PA
This is an outdoor clay track with a dusty surface. You will need to bring your own table and chairs. If you have a canopy you should bring that as well. The tire of choice is a super soft mini pin style tire (Pro-Line Holeshot)

TAP RC Raceway - 1155 S Black Horse Pike, Williamstown, NJ 08094
This is an indoor hard packed dirt track. The facility provides some pit tables but we recommend bringing your own table, chairs, extension cord. The tire choice is a super soft slick or bar style tire.

Class Rules:
We follow the basic ROAR class rules.
You can find the latest rule guide here: http://www.roarracing.com/rules.php
To sum it up we're looking for:
All classes - 2S lipo only with maximum charge of 8.40v.
2wd Stock Short Course Truck - ROAR approved 17.5t motor and ROAR approved speed control in no-timing ("blinky") mode.
2wd Mod Short Course Truck - Open Motor and Speed Control.
2wd Mod Stadium Truck - Open Motor and Speed Control.
2wd Stock Buggy - ROAR approved 17.5t motor and ROAR approved speed control in no-timing ("blinky") mode.
2wd Mod Buggy - Open Motor and Speed Control.
4wd Short Course Truck - Open Motor and Speed Control. 1/8th scale and 4pole 550 motors not allowed.
4wd stock Buggy - ROAR approved 13.5t motor and ROAR approved speed control in no-timing ("blinky") mode.
4wd Mod Buggy - Open Motor and Speed Control.
Sportsman - Any 10th scale vehicle, open motor and speed control. The idea of sportsman class is to allow a driver to improve their driving to the point where they can race in their corresponding class.
If a racer in sportsman's qualifier laps is greater than 80% (rounded up) of the top qualifier time in the corresponding class then they will be moved to that class. (For example, a sportsman racer is racing with a 4x4 SCT. The top qualifier in 4x4 SCT is 12 laps in 5:00. If the sportsman racer gets 10 or more laps then they are ready to race in the regular class and they will be bumped into the 4x4 SCT class)

We will be awarding the top 5 series awards, Top Dog awards, as well as the usual top 5 race awards in each class. Tons of door prizes to give away so make it a point to get out to the last Dog Days race of the year!!
