Default Turnigy TrackStar 1/14 sensored motors?

This guys have this posted on their website...
https://hobbyking.com/en_us/1-14th-s...___store=en_us

BUT WE CAN'T ASK QUESTIONS! LOL

Very vage information... for 1/14 scales? BUT is this a 24mm / 28mm / 36mm diameter motor? And also the lenght of it is, WHAT? 36mm diameters motor's are the norm of 540/550. 28mm diameter motors are the Traxxas E-Revos 1/16 sizes.... and 24mm is a bad size for 1/14...to small motor! What is the diameter of this motors Turnigy TrackStar 1/14 Scale?

If this is 28mm diameter motors... this is what the market was missing!

On this ones they show the size...
https://hobbyking.com/en_us/tracksta...or-3200kv.html

-These they say are 28mm diameter motors, but are sensorless.

The sensorless on "width" says: 40.00 and those are 28mm diameter and 51.5mm lenght....

So 25mm is what? lol Dam, China eyes! :P

-Sensored ... says 28mm diameter... and 51mm length

-This shows only it's a 1/14... lol...

Where is the diameter of that thing and the lenght? THEY SAY "NO" lol

NO to lenght
NO to diameter

Ok, it's a NO motor

Wish they made a techinal drawing like Leopard does...or at least show us the size!
Proline on the tires was doing the same for tires a few years ago... but a mail to them solved and they did not bury the head on sand... they listened!... they now show the diameter and with of tires on their website...cause saying it's for 1/8 scale is very vague... there is monster truck tires of all sizes, and on road tires smaller but for 1/8 and there is even dirt buggy tires... all those are 1/8, but some fit 1/14 scales! Lol Syaing it's just a 17mm hex... bahhhhhhhhhhhh go home, do your homework!

Anyway... Leopard drawing!

Funny thing is that i know absolutly the sensored ones will be out of stock in no time... THERE IS NO OTHER BRAND IN RC THAT DOES Sensored motors either 28mm or 24mm diameter!

It's really annoying when manufacturers don't include exact specs of their products. I have to guess with proline tire heights, and sometimes they're too tall!

Leopard has a 2838 sensored brushless motor available. ThumbRC sells it in the states.

Well... because I'm not opposed to experimentation, I am going to order one and take some measurements. Worst case, I blow $30 on a pipe dream lol. Best case, I finally get a sensored motor for my mini truggy

If those are 28mm... i predict a lot of E-revos 1/16 sensored coming up

I talked to HK and they said the responsable manager for product tagging will be noticed for my question...

Let's see if they burry the head on sand... like most manufacters do!

Some listen...like Castle & Proline. And that's a good thing...cause customer's need to know what size the things are...

Well nothing ventured nothing gained. Here is what I found after getting the "1/14" motor in the mail today...

24mm diameter and 38mm of effective length. The black part on the end seems to be solely for the sensor plug. Not exactly what I was hoping for lol

Wow, that's disappointing. I guess manufacturers don't learn from other manufacturer mistakes. Another 24mm 1/14 motor, lol cmon. Maybe it'll be alright in a mini 8ight buggy

So they are 24mm diameter 43lenght.

That's what is missing on the seller's website!

THANKS!

At least they are sensored. That's good news...

But market demand a 28mm diameter sensored. Traxxas E-Rvos 1/16 outhere... :

Think is not a big deal, since racing Mini8's buggys and the LC racing guys will still love it.
Not bad at all...by the way...2 poles or 4 poles?
If they are 4 pole that's good news...but suspect it's a 2 pole!

By the way...they have a new 75A sensored esc small enough!

Dimensions: 35 x 33.5 x 16.4mm
https://hobbyking.com/en_us/75a-esc-...-sensored.html
-They made it right showing the dimensions on this esc!

But we need to read between the lines... 75A is trown into the label...but on the specs...it says:
Max current: 75A ...

https://hobbyking.com/en_us/1-14th-s...___store=en_us
-Still burrying the head into sand... still no size's on their website... guess the "memo" was dismessed like most company's do... not listening to customers...

Well thanks internet! Now we know the sizes! No need for "manufacters" trolling us! lol shouting it's a 1/14 scale motor...yeah right... 20mm / 24mm / 28mm diameter... choose one and pick the size...make your own! Rabbits!

That does look like a fine ESC but you can be the guinea pig for that lol As for whether the motor is 2 or 4 pole, my guess is probably a 4-pole if they really did intend it for 1/14 scale but I have no idea how to find that out without dissecting the motor. I am going to assume it's a 4-pole if it doesn't smoke after a minute in the mini truggy I'm building

To know if is a 4pole or 2 pole simply do this:
(easier with a pinion attached)

Spin by hand the shaft...

Then what happens?

Does it spin like it dreams it was a solo bearing

or

Does it not spin when turned by hand, and is hard do move the shaft...needing to apply small force to move?

The last one is a 4 pole. . The solo bearing "wannabe" is a 2 pole!

Some 4 pole 40mm motors (1/8 scales) you can't move them by hand! Only a pliers grabed on the pinion! Torque kings! Even TPPower 29mm diameter & long cans are like that!

Well I must say I am confused by my findings lol.

After attaching a pinion to the sensorless 380 trackstar I have in the pictures, the pinion moves as if it were riding on a bearing. No resistance at all.

Then I attached the pinion to the trackstar 1/14 motor and it was a big difference. The 1/14 motor had noticeable resistance. It would "click" into place with each partial rotation. But my Maclan 17.5 motor had a similar amount of resistance but is only a 2-pole motor. So...

"Noticeable resistance" is good to hear. That means the magnets are strong and may be good enough for the truggy. Do you have an original LC Racing motor? If so you can compare the resistance of the two by hand for a rudimentary test.

I actually do not have one to test unfortunately =/
