Hi all,

today I run a little bit longer with 2s the 12kv Motor and a 12 tooth Metall pinion. After a while the pinion was loose on the motor shaft. Is this normal? I noticed that I could install the pinion really easy. Any suggestions to solve that?

Almost sounds like the pinion doesn't have the correct bore size. Did you verify the bore size against the motor bore?

I’ve only used the plastic pinions. Never. Any movement from them.

Same here w/ only using the plastic pinions. All have been snug on the motor shaft.

Dennis, I am sorry your having trouble w/ your Carisma. You said you tried 2 ESC's and same issue w/ both?
The first Carisma I every ordered (via Amazon) had a similar issue. Would not go unless I gave it a push, then it would only go at a very slow speed. Slow to start, etc ...I returned it (Amazon is great w/ returns) and got a new GT24b, no issue. I own 3 and have not had this issue w/ any other. I would definitely contact Carisma like Billy recommended. Your car doesn't seem to be functioning correctly, -even on 1s it should be pretty zippy and not lag to take off.

I ordered the pinions from the carisma shop. so i hope the size will fir on the motor shaft. I tried another metal pinion and this is also quite easy to install. maybe i try out the plastic ones.

You need to see what the bore size is of the motor actually is and then validate the bore size of the pinions.

How can I measure this small bore size?
Today my parts arrived and I tested again the 12 tooth Metall pinion. Same problem it is just to loose on the motor shaft. The 13 tooth pinion seems quite ok. But i switched now to 12 tooth plastic pinion. That fits quite straight.

Where did you buy the pinion from? If you ordered online, the place you ordered it from "should" have the bore sizes in the specs. The same for the motor, you should be able to look online for the specs of the motor which will include bore size.

For example:
https://www.amainhobbies.com/robinso...rrp0160/p49534

You see the bore size. And then like this combo:
https://hobbyking.com/en_us/tracksta...em-4300kv.html

There is a shaft size. If you were to convert that pinion bore to mm, you would be about 3.1 mm. That's probably not going to work. The motor is listed as 2mm so I would search for a pinion with a 2mm bore like this:

Amazon Amazon

I ordered the pinion from the Carisma web shop. It is listed as option part of the gt24b so I think it should fit to the gt24b 12000kv Motor. I didn’t find any specs on the website.

If you can wiggle the pinion on the shaft, it's likely too big. If you have dial calipers, you can measure the bore and the pinion to verify, but the wiggle test is usually pretty easy. Try out the plastic pinions and see if they fit better.

Some progress on swapping to a spektrum rx
used a carisma micro servo from the Msa1-e and press fit the gt24 horn on.

First bash session with the new set up.
Drove on a driveway, packed gravel and used a plastic skate ramp.

The drivability is night and day now. I have the punch turned down and the truck is a blast on 2s.

Very pleased with the hobbywing esc and control with the spektrum dx5c. The shallow neutral range and quick transitions from forward to reverse are a welcome feel.

Nice work Ray,
-somehow missed this post ...Love what you did!

Hey question,
I have 3 GT24B's for my indoor track. Everytime I let the kids or a friend drive my cars I end up w/ broken front shocks. Either the shock shaft breaks or the shock housing. I've had a pair of the aluminum Carisma shocks, Losi plastic shocks and now one of my Losi aluminum shocks shaft has snapped. ...the Losi ones are hard to find/replace and cost a lot.
So, I remember reading about a shapeways front bumper. Anyone have any larger bumper recommendations or a link to the shapeways one? I never bought the shapeways bumper (shapeways stuff is always so expensive) ..but its getting expensive fixing shocks!! Recommendations helpful, thank you!

..so I found the Shapeways bumper, it looks great, exactly what I need. Yet it costs between $12 - $23 depending on the color and material you select, then another $6 to ship and then 10% sales tax (CA). So at the cheapest I would be looking at about $20 for a tiny piece of plastic. I think not!! My biggest gripe w/ Shapeways, the prices are too darn expensive.
So i'll be looking to create something on my own.
