New HPI Micro RS4 vs Old HPI Micro RS4

I am looking to purchase one of the above models. The only predicament I am in is that the old one comes with a Nissan GTR R34 painted body which I LOVE.

I have found a brand new one RTR and I am guessing it is new old stock.

Am I loosing anything by getting the older model? I have read I need to upgrade to the metal pinion? Also I am guessing I can upgrade the batteries etc

hmmmm...Any advice?

Thankyou

I believe they are very similar.
Is the pinion metal on the new one?
I am check it out, I need the metal pinion for my current Micro RS4 Build..

I have also been told that the only solid diff is the s13 with the new HPI micro's? or are they all the same?

Metal pinion seems quite easy to get on ebay

Hmmm if its exactly the same just different body I might get the old nissan GTR as I love them haha

would it still have a solid Diff for drifting?

I have a couple of the old ones, and a couple of the new ones. No difference that I can tell other than the old one has purple anodized parts and the new one has orange. I don't think any of the original ones had a solid diff, but if you wanted to lock it up you could epoxy or just get the diff parts from a new one.

I have been able to drift with the regular Diff but is because of the speed of the brushless. But the solid diff is pretty cheap on eBay and is an easy swap. I'm going to get it along with some drift tires. And see how it handles then.
