Hobbyking now has a Trackstar 45a waterproof ESC, hard to find on their website, product# 9192000298-0, under $25, had really good luck with a couple of brushless Trackstar ESC/motor combos that I had for a couple AE SC18 that I had, also HK has a programming card for the ESC product# 9192000049, have a couple on order, will up date later

I've been looking at getting the 45A v2 ESC but haven't found much info about it. Have you had a chance to try it out? The website says it's only rated to 2S but the older version went up to 3S. Can it handle 3S?

I run this puppy in mine on 2s and 3s constantly and it's buttery smooth: https://hobbyking.com/en_us/turnigy-...prog-v2-2.html

got the trackstar waterproof esc about a month or so ago, so far they seem to be great, not sure if they handle 3s batteries, we only run 2s batteries, not very good owners manual, unlike the esc/motor combos we got for our older trucks, got our grandson a couple SCT brushless trucks for xmas, can't wait till we get some drier weather here in the pacific nw, so we can run 4 trucks on our 140' short course track.

Bringing this thread back. Bought two of these the other day, a brushed and a brushless version. I figure for $100 the brushed version will be a good parts/donor truck. Any updates from those still running these? I know these are the same as LC Racing, so are you just using those parts?

Also, what bodies are you guys using? I can only find the LC body. Any other sources for a 1/14 SCT body?

These are still my favorite mini rc trucks. Yes you can use LC Racing parts as they are the same exact truck. The only thing I’d wish they’d update is the gear cover. I always have to tape or silicone it to keep the dirt out. The gears are just too small to leave exposed.

Other than that they are rock solid and fun as hell to drive.

Haven’t had any problems with the gears, I used a small piece of foam to cover the opening in the gear cover.

I’m using a hobbywing 60a each, the stock gets fairly hot. A fan can probably fix heat problems.

The only thing I don’t like is how easily the body cracks.

I just change out the gears to metal and take off the lower part of the gear cover as it just traps rocks.
Nitrorcx has the clear body available too.
The pictures above are Kamtec which is out of the UK. I'm not sure if the ship to the U.S.

The HPI Savage XS bodies work as a monster truck set up.
The losi M8T and LC Racing Truggy bodies will work.
I saw where someone made a McAllister mini oval body work. It didn't fit perfectly but it did look good the way he had it painted.

Lastly, Phat Bodies has a buggy body for the 225mm wheelbase SCT. It's a lot easier to make bigger jumps with the buggy body. The SCT body sails quite a bit.

I've never replaced a piece of electronics on any of my 3 Tacon/LC Racing trucks. Been rock solid all around.
