Thanks for the suggestion about the mini 8ight diffs. I'll be ordering them to replace.

I've also been bending my front dogbones, it seems the bend when just driving. I suspect it's from turning, so maybe the fix is simply by adjusting the endpoint on the steering. Any other suggestions? Anyone know what dog bones might be a direct replacement? I understand the mini 8ight has a wider wheelbase, so I assume the DB's are longer too and wouldn't work.

I do believe that this is the same as the 1/14 Losi mini desert truck. http://www.losi.com/Products/Default.aspx?ProdID=LOS01007

Well even if they are discontinued they still have quite a few parts available here is just one place I found parts after searching Google for all of 10 seconds. You can pick one up for pretty cheap too. $129.99 with free shipping to the US. https://www.rcsuperstore.com/Losi-Mi...p/los01007.htm

Just because a product gets discontinued does not necessarily mean you can't get parts for them. My RC10B2 has been discontinued for about 20 years and I can still get most every part for it.

Correct!

I did say parts weren't available. Just stating that the Losi Desert Truck is also discontinued as the well as the Kemora and Kalahari. Which was just mentioned a few posts prior.

I too acquire parts for my super old Mini-T on ebay, FB and LHS. Just depends who has what I need. Which brings me to that point. It's always a good idea to check multiple areas for parts. The older the RC the more scarce parts become and the more creative one needs to be when searching for parts.

for Carpet racing these, a local racer said that he bought from someone who has put in grease in the front shock. front tires where sanded flat old rally tires. It works great and he is leading the points race in our club. What is a good shock oil to approximate that grease in the front shock? what other set-up sheets can you do to make my mini rally more competitive? it mainly suffers from traction roll and some under steer (if that makes sense).

Start with a 2000 AE diff oil. And you can go as high as a million. But 2000-6000 diff oil should do the trick.

I'm using a 26t 48p aluminum HPI pinion but I had to dremel the motor mount to allow the screws to hold each other. By the way I switched everything to a Mini 8 chassis and ran rubber touring tires throughout for some insane carpet bashing, and the Traxxas 1/16 rally had a hard time keeping up. Hope this helps.
Would you please share the mod you did to fit the larger pinion if you ever see this again? 😂. I know itís been a while but Iíve already tore up one 21 because I canít square it to thee spur cuz there isnít enough room. My kemora is all jacked up with losi parts. Hobbywing esc, 6000kv, foams, shocks. Pretty much everything.

thanks, and hope to hear back from you!

Fitted some new shoes to my Kalahari today. Going out in a bit to give em a good run.
Also other mods I have made are I replaced the factory screws with stainless, fitted some LC Racing turnbuckles and camber links, Hitec HS225MG servo, Surpass Hobby 2440 4600kv motor, Hot Racing 56T 48p spur, Traxxas 15T pinion, Vatarra CVDs all around, Vatarra rear aluminum hubs and Fast Eddy bearings.
