Tried a 18t pinion today. It pulled wheelies just as easy and had a better top speed.

Pretty impressive.

Do you think if I ran the same motor you are using on a stock mini 8ight with stock gearing on 3s, would the motor run cool?

The motor will handle a 4s lipo no problem. That is according to the scorpion tech I talked to. The motor can handle 300+ degrees heat!!

Its the stock esc that will not work. If you have a good esc. Then let her rip!

I am really impressed with the motors ability to run an 18 tooth pinion and wheelie effortlessly on a 2s lipo. Its quick and has plenty of torque. And I still can not get over how light and small it is.

I picked the right motor. Am really pleased with it.

I recently installed a Robinson racing hardened aluminum 18T pinion .5mod for a rc18t. I had to drill the hole out with a 3/32 bit to fit the 2.3mm shaft.

The mesh is perfect, and the pinion is not wearing at all. I may stick with these pinions.

Thank you so much! I think I am going to buy that motor. HOw is your hobbyking esc doing with the scorpion?

Did you have to cut those bar codes down? They look great.

Yep, I cut down 1/10 4wd buggy tires to make them. ITs pretty easy for these tires. Thanks, they did turn out well.

The original tire is the larger lower one. The smaller one above it is after I cut it down to mini 8ight size.

The motor is good to 300F ? What kind of magnets are in there? Usually they start to get weak after 200F.
I still need to see a video of this motor in action before I consider buying one. I want to see wheel stands on 2s in the vid. Upload to youtube Please. Your other vids won't show up on my phone.

Its actually like 357degrees or something. According to their website. Plus a 2 year warranty.

Here is the video. Its stock gearing on 2s. I recently ran it on an 18T/62 gearing and it wheelied even easier. Which tells me the scorpion has a lot more torque than stock, but again is 1/3 the size of a vxl and a higher kv.

Here is what scorpion says about the heat.

The stators are made with 0.2mm laminations to give maximum efficiency, and minimum Eddy current losses. The stators are epoxy coated to prevent shorts, and are wound with wire that is rated at 180 degrees C (356 F). The magnets used in Scorpion Motors are custom manufactured to be able to withstand temperatures of up to 200 degrees C (392 F).

Thank you for the upload to youtube! That motor looks like a ripper! 4s will be insanity for sure! You have any tracks in your area? Id like to see some footage of that. This motor looks like 3s even on 2s. That esc is limiting the amps on this for sure. Some speed runs would be cool.

I have a hobbyking 45amp esc coming that will run a 6pole motor on 3s.

I also have a quark roadster coming that will handle up to a 6s lipo and 65amps.

I have had the quark before. Awesome esc. To bad they don't make them any longer.

Also on the wheelie video guys. I am running large spike tires. They hook up better in the grass. Your stock tires will not wheelie that easily in grass if at all.

Still the stock motor does not have the torque to wheelie like that.
