foam tire questions

i have an associated sc18 and am running it on carpet track. seems the mini z tires have made the carpet very slick (silcone based tires) so we are running foam tires on the sc18's.
what care or cleaning or maintance do you do to foams? do they like heat? cause they seems to get better at the 3 minute mark.

WD-40 works wonders on foam tires. Cleans them and gives you incredible traction.

Bruce Glick, O-Zone tires.

interesting. just a wipe?

I spray some on a paper towel and then run my tires through it. Then on a clean paper towel I will drag the car across it at a 45 deg angel rolling the tires. You will see all the crap come off. Your car will handle like crap for a few seconds and then watch the magic happen!! Instant traction just add WD-40.

I used to make my own tire sauce back in the day.

WD-40
MEK (Methol Ethol keton)
VHT ( Very high traction)

An extremely flammable combination but very very grippy.

Have u ever tried wd-40 on dirt. How does it work I wonder.

Dunchadoit 02-16-2011 10:35 PM

I've never tried it on dirt. Not sure about that one. We used to cut grooves in our foams back in the day when I raced dirt oval. Worked pretty good.

What foam tires are you running? We use jack the gripper or paragon fx2. I like the jack a little better. There is another one that a couple of us are testing out that is working really good. It has a citrus smell, kinda reminds you of the old TQ traction compound. But works better. It is not out yet so I can't say too much right now.

no traction compound allowed. i have 30 shore foams from the toys.com
running a sc18 .
i cleaned them with brakeclean and they worked as good as new. just have to clean them every heat.
The silcone tires from the mini zs are making the carpet slipery fr other classes

How would simple green work for cleaning the foam tires?

I run dirt oval with foam and was thinking about trying Simple Green. I just dont want to wreck the foam so I wanted to ask here first.

I hear Dawn dish soap works well too.
