Default New Indoor Track Question..

We are looking to make a new indoor onroad track for 1/18 rally cars.
Should it be carpet or cement track. We want to run rubber tires not foam.so how will rubber hook up on carpet? Thanks.

You will have some traction but the thing to remember everybody will have the same amount of traction.....
with rubber tires racers will want to put additives on the rubber to give more grip....

Another factor to consider is if the 1/18th rally class is the only micro class you want to go with. You can get away with either Carpet, Asphalt, or Concrete with a 1/18 rally class due to the bigger tires and choice of rubber or foam, but if you ever would want to run Micro Touring with M18's, or a Micro Pan car class, then you would want to go with carpet. This is mostly due to the smaller more to scale tire sizes of the Micro Touring, and Pan Car classes, as well as no really effective rubber compounds for them. I know that there are a few guys out there that do run their M18’s on smooth asphalt, but tire wear is always an issue with the foams. Just out of curiosity, why are you looking at concrete versus asphalt? Also where are you located? Hope this helps a little.
