Kyosho Mini-Z, HPI Micro and other 1/24-1/28 scale RC Cars

There seems to be a growing interest in these cars from all that I can tell in RC Car Action Magazine. I am thinking about starting another RC Club like the one that I had in Merced, but I don't have as much space. No great big concrete courtyard to be able to use, so I am starting to look at mini and micro cars.

1. I see on e-bay some interesting Mini-Zs, and I would like to know more information about them? Have you heard of 4wd Mini-Zs? Someone is selling one, and it looks like it from the Chassis. I thought that Mini-Zs were 2wd.

2. Mini-Z Palm Runners, are they cool or lame? Again, I found those on e-bay and they seem cheap, but are they upgradeable, or are they something completely different, no suspension and sealed.

3. What hop up parts are hot? What ones are not worth the money?

4. What surfaces do these race well on? Can they run effectively on carpet?

Palm Runners? Hmm?

There is the link to one that is being sold on e-bay. It comes with some funky looking radio.

Is there a mini expert on at RCtech anywhere? I would like to ask some questions.

I don't know about Mini Zs, but those HPI Micro cars are nuts. I see people spending hundreds of dollars on those little things, graphite parts, a one-way and all that good stuff.

They sure look cool driving through the living room! :)

Heh, where's the "don't own one and don't want one box" :D

I have enough money in my TC, I don't want to be spending significant ammounts on something that won't go as fast :D

People with closed minds need not apply.

The idea is not to race against a 1/10th TC, or even on a 1/10th track. These littlle cars are quite fast on there own smaller sized course and with 10 other drivers, its just as competitive as 1/10th!!!

Whoa, I didn't say these cars are bad, nor that I totally don't want one, just that I would rather spend the money on 1/10th scale.

I have seen 2 Micro's that are faster than stock 1/10 scale cars. One had a Hacker brushless motor and the other had a Speed 300 motor. The speed 300 took a bit more time to spool up but it was VERY fast...I would say that if it was in a race with the modified guys, it would finish 3-4 laps back.:tire:

That is sick and crazy!

That is just crazy fast. How smooth a surface would you need to keep control of something that small going that fast?

What size of batteries and size of servos are needed in the RS4 micro? How much are you selling your Mod micro for? RS4 Micro stock run how much?

You can use standard servos but they are heavy and suggest using metal gear micro servo(Hitec HS81,85MG).
I use 2/3a NiMH 6v and 7.2v packs.
A stock setup with a Futaba Mag Jr AM w 230CR ESC will run you around 250 total with batteries. The stock version has a batt box that can run rechargable AAs.

I understand that there are a lot of mini and micro RC cars available in Japan. I have been looking at Mini-X cars which are 4wd, and the same size as Mini-z cars.

I am looking for a couple of used mini-z cars. E-mail me if you have one that you would like to sell or trade. I have a gob of really cool RC stuph that I might be willing to trade.

If you have a mini-z what have you learned about tuning it? It looks like Integy has a gob of cool mini-z hop up, which seem better priced than the Megatech parts.

my micro is probably getting 20-25 mph. Wait till I drop
the brushless motor in it. 60,000 RPM. Some one has already
done it and was clocked 60mph!!! Is that fast enough buddy?
