Default Tekin Mini Rage esc, sensored?

i have an 18R with a mini rage esc on the box it says it works with sensored and sensorless motor. how does the sensor hookup to the esc? and what would be a good sensored motor for the 18r? i currently have the tekin 8.1Kv brushless sensorless motor in there.

It works in sensorless mode with a sensored motor. You wont need the sensor at all.

The only sensored Mini/Micro motor that I am aware of is the Novak Three-80. I have a sensorless motor in my M18 and I don't like it at all. The throttle is not consistently smooth and there are spurts of unwanted acceleration from time to time. A sensorless motor can not match the predictability and smoothness of a sensored system.

There is a reason why only sensored motors are allowed in 1/10th onroad competition.

Actually, all castle 1/10 stuff is roar legal for mod racing and you shouldve got a sidewinder

And sensorless is just as smooth as sensored. You have an RS right? if you run in dual mode, its only using the sensors at startup, it is SL operation

Initial startup is where a sensored makes the most difference since its using the actual revolutions versus the sensorless using the em field. The em field is weak at lower revs, and so there has to be enough of a em field to get the sensorless esc to "see" the sensorless motor.

Once it does however, from what I understand a sensorless is more efficient, and can potentially reach higher rpms. Hence why you see many dual mode sensor/sensorless setups.

Personally, Im hoping Tekin comes out with a Mini RS the same size as the B1.
